General Hospital viewers will recall that Gladys was locked in a storage room at the Jerome Gallery with Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) who went into labor with Brando Corbin’s (Johnny Wactor) baby. The baby, who Brando decided at the last minute wanted to know his gender, turned out to be a baby boy that Brando and Sasha decided to name Brando Michael Corbin (uncast infant) after joking around about names such as Laborius! Fortunately, Brando came looking for Sasha and opened the door, and Sasha, Brando and Gladys all went to General Hospital where Sasha was taken to the maternity ward immediately.

After several hours of labor, Sasha suffered placental abruption and underwent an emergency c-section and baby Brando was put into the neonatal intensive care unit in an incubator. Gladys, as well as Brando and Sasha are worried about whether the baby will make it or not. Sonny and Carly decide this is a time to put differences aside to support the worried grandma!

General Hospital viewers will recall that Gladys has been a blackmailer and schemer even with her own family! General Hospital viewers will recall that Gladys is a cousin of the late Mike Corbin (Max Gail), Sonny’s father. Sonny reached out to her to agree to fake an identity for Dev Cerci (Ashton Arbab) when Brando was thought to have died in combat in the armed forces – in reality, Gladys had made that up – he had been doing prison time for drugs! She’d also cashed in on his life insurance policy!

Brando showed up in Port Charles just in time to save Carly’s life when Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) had set up a three-pronged attack on Sonny’s territory in Port Charles, wanting to establish a drug running network in it. He had come looking for Gladys after seeing her social media post posing with Dev, in which she had identified him as her grandson! Just like she has more recently done with Brook Lynn Quartermaine, (Amanda Setton) Gladys attempted to milk the bank accounts of the Corinthos family dry, even after Sonny bought her a car and tried to send her back where she came from in New Jersey – until Carly closed “the bank of Corinthos”!

General Hospital Spoilers – Gladys Corbin Lost Her Fake Grandson To Death, Now She’s Worried She’ll Lose Her Real One

General Hospital viewers will recall that Dev died in the explosion of The Floating Rib, having found the backpack under a table. Because of his experiences as a war orphan in Turkey, and with drug lords such as Raj Patel (Noshir Dalal) his mind immediately went to it being a bomb and he tried to remove it before it exploded, but was unable to. Gladys lost her fake grandson to death, and now she’s worried she’ll lose her real one because the baby had problems right off after his delivery via c-section.

Placental abruption, which Sasha had suffered, can cut off the lifeline to the fetus because the placenta separates from the inner wall of the uterus before the baby is born, and according to the American Pregnancy Association, 15 percent of severe placental abruption cases end in fetal death. The condition can deprive the baby of oxygen and nutrients. Dr. Sofia Navarro (Christina Ferraro) and several nurses and another doctor had rushed the baby away from Sasha and Brando after showing him to them, and they knew something was seriously wrong! General Hospital viewers will see Sonny and Carly rush to support Gladys, Brando and Sasha as soon as they find out what has happened!
