When the truth came out, it turned out that Hayden had been running a con and working with Ric Lansing (Ric Hearst) who General Hospital viewers will recall was once married to Elizabeth. Ric wanted Elizabeth back so he paid her to run this con and break up Elizabeth and Jake, and she was hurting for money after a divorce so she agreed.

Longtime General Hospital viewers will recall that General Hospital has tried recreating supercouples before, either with actors from its own spinoffs or previous shows they were on. For instance, when Elizabeth Hendrickson came on as Margaux Dawson, they immediately tried pairing her with Drew. This was because on a previous daytime drama, CBS’s The Young and The Restless, Billy Miller and Elizabeth Hendrickson’s characters there had been a supercouple for a while.
