General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Kelly Monaco Replaced, Lindsay Hartley Back As Sam
General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates tease that Kelly Monaco, who plays Sam McCall, took a break in January. Kelly is back taping now but Lindsay Hartley (ex-Theresa, PASSIONS; ex-Arianna, DAYS) stepped in during Kelly’s absence.
General Hospital Spoilers – Kelly Monaco Took A Break
Soap Opera Digest reports that Kelly Monaco took a brief leave from the show in January. Kelly is back taping now. However, Lindsay stepped in to fill the void in a few episodes in Kelly’s absence. Lindsay knows the character well since she filled in for Kelly in August 2020. Many fans were very impressed with Hartley’s portrayal and even thought that she should stick around the last time. Comments from fans encouraged GH executives to create a role for Hartley ran rampant after her last appearance in Kelly’s role. However, that did not come to fruition. Executives seem to be content with Lindsay filling in and trusting her to handle the role. Lindsay has great chemistry with the people that Sam is normally tied to so there isn’t a big adjustment for anyone.
General Hospital Updates – Why Was Kelly Monaco Absent?
Although there has been no official information about Kelly’s absence, there have been rumors circulating as to why she took her to leave in January. Several stars of the show had been diagnosed with COVID around that time. No one has said for sure if this was the case but internet rumors suggest that Kelly may have contracted COVID onset before their holiday shut down. General Hospital didn’t return to production until later and fans assumed that was because of the COVID outbreak. Whatever the reason for her absence, we are glad that Kelly is well and back to work.

Soap fans probably remember Hartley as Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on Passions. However, Hartley’s character Arianna was popular, and pairing her with Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) was a great idea. Unfortunately, Brady and Arianna broke up and she was later killed by a car when she ran out into the street to escape someone who was chasing her. Monaco also got her start on a similar soap as she played Livvie Locke on Port Charles. Of course, Livvie was with Caleb Morley (Michael Easton). Kelly joined General Hospital in what was supposed to be the short-term role of Sam McCall in 2003 and has been there ever since. Kelly’s most memorable pairing on G.H. is by far the pairing with popular hitman Jason Morgan (ex-Steve Burton).
Hartley’s first episode is set for February third but never fear, Kelly will be back in the role soon.

I have stopped watching after 30 years sine the Carly Sonny split I think it ruined the show for me and all my friends who also have been loyal fans
Like you I’ve been watching General Hospital for years. Going back as far as the mid 70s.
I’m at the point that I too am ready to give up on GH. This story line with Sunny and DixonFalls was interesting for a couple of months but they have dragged it on and on. I’m now so over that absurd storyline and what they have chosen to turn the character of Sonny into.
The writing has really left a lot to be desired lately. They just don’t seem to understand when enough is enough. The continuing Peter and Nina storylines are so worn out at this point.
Can’t they just kill Peter during this escape attempt, I really don’t think I can take a baby kidnapping?

I also have been a fan since I was about 5 years old when I started watching with my grandmother, I’m now in my 50’s. The Carly Donny thing has been played out so many times before the show needs to move on with someone Else, and definitely not the Peter fiasco that is so boring and predictable. As of now I watch about 2x a week and don’t miss a thing. If things don’t change soon I too will completely stop watching.
I agree they need to resolve the Peter and Naxie’s baby storyline as almost everyone in Port Charles know about it now. Time for Peter to go by by.
Also need to either put Sonny and Carly back together or give them different storylines as this crap with Carly and Nina is getting old. Have Nina put Carly in her place.
