General Hospital Spoilers: Would Carly Approve Of A Sonny-Anna Romance? Why It’s Important

General Hospital spoilers tease that fans should expect the unexpected in Port Charles. While Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) just got back from their honeymoon, their marriage is in jeopardy.

Not only because Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) is about to drop the SEC bombshell on his father, but also because Reeves is still hiding a number of lies about Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez). Their relationship may seem strong, but it’s hanging on a thread.

Sonny has gotten closer to Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and fans can sense a romance may be in their future, if all the right pieces align.

Still, Corinthos’s bond with his ex is so strong, so would Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) approve if they hooked up? Would it matter?

GH Spoilers: Sonny Corinthos & Anna Devane Would Make An Interesting Couple

GH spoilers suggest that not only is Sona on the verge of a break-up, but so is Vanna. Anna can sense Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is lying to her, although if she knew it was to protect Charlotte, she may not be that mad at him. Still, she doesn’t know this, and it will undoubtedly place a wedge between them.

There’s a good chance that once Sonny and Anna find out that Valentin and Nina are working together to protect the young teen girl, they’ll be quite upset. Not because protecting her is all that bad, but rather due to the fact that neither party felt comfortable enough to bring either of them into the loop.

You should be able to share “anything” with your partner and both Nina and Valentin should trust that Sonny and Anna would be on the same page to ensure Charlotte doesn’t face massive repercussions and that she gets the help she needs. This betrayal could have Anna and Sonny bonding, essentially gravitating towards a romance.

GH Spoilers: The Carly Spencer Factor

Carly has never truly been supportive of any partner of Sonny’s. That’s because there’s an underlying jealousy factor with her, as she believes no one is good enough for Sonny, but her.

Anna may be the exception to that rule. Carly and Anna have never had a rivalry before, and they’ve always been on good terms. Ms. Spencer’s biggest beef with Nina was that she “stole” Sonny away from her, so the fact that Corinthos may dump Reeves and move forward with Devane could be a peacemaking factor for the two ladies.

Lastly, Carly is with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), so she also needs to tread lightly about showing her jealousy – if she has any – in front of him.

Why is it important for Carly to approve? Sonny’s his own man; however, he’s still rather close and loyal to Ms. Spencer. As they share kids, it would make life easier to co-parent if his ex-wife didn’t turn into a raging lunatic every time his new girlfriend’s name was mentioned.

Carly also has influence over her children to accept a new love. It took a long while for Michael to come around with Nina, and that became a sore spot in the Sona romance, as most of Sonny’s kids didn’t approve of Nina, with Kristina Corinthos (Kate Mansi) being the exception.
