General Hospital Spoilers: Willow Frightened , Keeps Test Results Secret From Michael

General Hospital spoilers and updates tease in this week’s Soap Opera Digest that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) will be called into Dr. TJ Ashford’s (Tajh Bellow) office. But she’ll keep the results secret from Michael Corinthos, (Chad Duell) dismissing them as something minor in spite of her fear.

General Hospital Spoilers: Willow Tait Goes To GH For An Appointment

Willow arrives at GH for a regular checkup appointment, as pregnant moms always have to do every month or two,  not expecting anything out of the ordinary to happen. She and Michael have been excited and joyful at the prospects of having a new baby together, even though the pregnancy was unplanned and unexpected. Her symptoms of occasional fainting, exhaustion and fatigue are all things many expectant mothers experience so she’s not worried at first.

Then TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) wants to talk to her about the results of other tests he ran when she was brought in after fainting at the Metro Court Pool. It’s not what he does says but what he doesn’t that worries her, although the results could be indicative of many different things.

GH Spoilers: Willow Tait’s White Blood Cell Count Is High

TJ tells her that the blood tests he ran showed that her white blood cell count is high; but that could be from many different things, some of them quite minor. Usually this result happens when the body is fighting an infection, however minor, because the white blood cells are the ones that work with the immune system.

Even a paper cut that has become infected can manifest a high white blood cell count if it is a bad enough infection. If they are high because of some kind of infection, antibiotics are the rule, although the choices are a little more limited when a patient is pregnant. Willow portrayer Katelyn MacMullen downplays the results in SOD, saying for all they know it could be the result of a vitamin deficiency.

General Hospital Spoilers: TJ Ashford Doesn’t Want To Alarm Willow Tait Before He Is Sure

Willow does become concerned, however, when TJ seems like he doesn’t want to alarm her before he is sure of his suspicions; the medical term for white blood cells is “leukocytes”. “Leukocyte” is where the words “leukocytosis” and “leukemia” are derived from, and they are very serious situations in themselves, but even more so when complicated by a pregnancy in the patient. Willow is in nursing school and she knows about some of these disorders, and she can tell when TJ as a doctor is holding back, so she’s frightened.

General Hospital Spoilers: Willow Frightened , Keeps Test Results Secret From Michael

The two of them are friends having worked together and she can sense TJ is worried as well as to what the cause of the high white blood cells are. But she can understand not wanting to reveal his suspicions until he is sure, making her even more frightened of the potential diagnosis.

GH Spoilers: Additional Blood Tests Are Ordered, Willow Tait Keeps It A Secret

TJ orders more blood tests, to confirm or deny his suspicions; Willow decides to keep it a secret from Michael until the diagnosis is sure. She doesn’t even tell him about the additional blood tests, because she figures it isn’t worth getting him worried too until there’s really something to worry about. There are so many things that can raise a white blood cell count, many of them comparatively minor. Hopefully, it will turn out to be something minor with a simple cure, and not a full-blown medical crisis.
