General Hospital Spoilers: Marshall In Witness Protection Or Did He Fake His Own Death?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers and rumors tease that Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) had a good reason to let his family believe he was dead all those years, telling Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) that he was “waiting until it was safe to reveal himself”. General Hospital viewers can figure out that there was some type of danger that had lasted for many years – but the big question is, was Marshall possibly in witness protection, or did he fake his death and drop off the grid on his own?

General Hospital Spoilers And Rumors– Sometimes Witness Protection Moves A Family, Sometimes Not

One thing that is important for General Hospital viewers to remember is that sometimes when witness protection becomes involved, they don’t always move a whole family and give them new identities. Sometimes it is only the person testifying against a criminal that is protected. The law enforcement authority who does so, usually the FBI, sets up the protected person with a new identity, a means of employment, and a place to live, far away from their home. This would explain why Curtis, Stella Henry (Vernée Watson) and his mother and brother were told Marshal had a heart attack and died, and there was a funeral complete with a grave.

The law enforcement authority would have set all of that up. General Hospital viewers will recall a similar situation several years ago when Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) went into witness protection, and Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos) had been told he was dead. Fortunately for Molly, that only lasted a couple of months and she was reunited with her very much alive father. But if that were the case here, why wouldn’t Marshall have just told Curtis that – with Curtis having been a cop and then a private investigator, he would have understood! But since he didn’t, once he did get a word in edgewise, it sounds more like Marshall faked his own death to keep his family safe on his own! The question is –why?

General Hospital Spoilers And Rumors – Marshall Ashford Showed Up In Port Charles Shortly After Vincent Novak And Charles Buscema Died, and Joey Novak Seemed Afraid Of Him

General Hospital viewers will note that Marshall showed up in Port Charles shortly after Vincent Novak (Glenn Taranto) and Charles Buscema (Bart Tangredi) died in the explosion of a limo outside the wedding of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). Shortly after that, Joey Novak (Patrick Zeller) had made trouble inside The Savoy, Curtis’ club, and he’d followed him over to Kelly’s, where Joey turned around and saw him and seemed to be afraid of him!

There definitely seemed to be some recognition there, and it wasn’t long after that Joey found himself beaten up and in General Hospital! It’s doubtful Marshall himself delivered that beat down, but it is possible! Marshall’s built like a quarterback while Joey’s built like a basketball player and a skinny one at that! Could there be a connection between Marshall and the Novaks, or possibly the Cosa Nostra which Buscema had been the head of? Could one of those crime families have been the threat to the Ashford family? It’s a definite possibility!

General Hospital Spoilers And Rumors – Marshall Ashford Could Have Run From A Loan Shark Connected With The Novaks Or The Buscemas

General Hospital viewers know that it’s fairly common knowledge that mob figures are often into loan sharking and shakedowns. Although it is still possible that the reason for Marshall’s long absence is that he went into witness protection, more than likely his late wife would have known about him testifying against a mobster unless he was a cop working undercover. Marshall’s profession, or former profession, has not yet been revealed.

Marshall could have borrowed some money from the mob, likely connected either to the Novaks or the Buscemas and had been unable to pay it back; and the loan sharks could have threatened his family with harm. That seems the more likely scenario, because if Marshall had been undercover and testifying against the mob, they would have not likely known anything about his true identity or his family! General Hospital viewers may find out that Marshall’s explanation to Curtis will turn out to be something entirely different, but as of now, either witness protection or more likely running from loan sharks seem to be the best explanation!
