General Hospital Spoilers: Fan Favorites: GH Love Triangles Through the Years
General Hospital spoilers reveals there are few guilty pleasures better than a love triangle in Port Charles. We don’t see too many late nights or dive bars. Gentleman’s clubs are a thing of the past. Adultery might still creep in from time to time, but mostly, fans are longing for the back-and-forth and angst that comes with not being able to choose who makes a character’s heart skip a beat more often. GH has come with more than its fair share of love triangles over the years, but a handful have left their mark.
General Hospital Spoilers — Elizabeth Got Lucky with Nikolas — and Lucky
As a teenager, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) had a hard time finding her way after her parents dumped her for a life without the responsibility of parenthood. Fortunately, she found a few good friends who would come to act as her surrogate family. A couple of those friends turned out to be more than just good pals, but men she would come to love. Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) stole young Liz’s heart, and the pair stole ours. However, all good things must come to an end and in Port Charles, that often means a woman sleeps with her man’s brother.
When Liz cheated on Lucky with Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) — and ended up pregnant, it proved to be a trying time for all three of them waiting on paternity results. Of course, the first round of testing was fixed to show Nikolas was Cameron ‘Cam’ Webber’s (William Lipton) father, when it was really Lucky. Although there is no longer any bad blood between these three, Lucky has kept his distance from Port Charles and both Liz and Nikolas. Longtime fans are still holding out hope that Liz and Lucky find their way back to one another someday.
GH Spoilers Tease Things are Heating Up for Joss and Cam — and Joss and Dex
It surprised no one when Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks (Eden McCoy) ended up with Cam. Like mother, like son, Cam found the girl next door who had been his best friend since childhood was the most idyllic girlfriend in Port Charles. He couldn’t imagine starting his college years and adult life with anyone else. However, these two barely got off the ground before tragedy struck. When their worst enemy — Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) — recorded their first time together and distributed that film all over the campus at Port Charles University, what hopes Joss and Cam had for their relationship began to dwindle before their eyes.
Instead of dealing with the broken pieces of their relationship and trying to fix it, Joss found herself welcoming the distraction of another guy’s company. Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) couldn’t have been more different from Cam, and the risk and adrenaline rush he brings to the table brings out a side of Joss fans were hoping existed beneath her saccharine surface. This love triangle might be new, but GH lovers are already pegging them as the next “Carly and Jason.”
General Hospital Spoilers — Jax and Sonny Fought For Brenda, and Over Her
Avid fans might remember that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) isn’t the only girl Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) ever fought over. Once upon a time, there was a tiny, brunette woman with the same feisty personality who wouldn’t be told no. That was Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil). Between Brenda cheating on Jax with Sonny, and Sonny subsequently stranding Brenda on their wedding day before they could say I do, this love triangle is one for the ages. Later, Brenda would attempt to marry Jax for a second time, but he would leave her standing as he uttered the words I don’t and revealed he knew she once again had cheated with Sonny.
GH Spoilers Say Sam Had to Choose Between Twins, Drew and Jason
Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) struggled to let Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) back into her heart when he returned to Port Charles donning a new face and no recollection of the life he shared with her. Their love story was gone, and Sam felt she had to fall in love with a new person all over again. Talk about pressure. When the truth later came out that the man she came to love was actually Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) — Jason’s long lost twin — and the real Jason returned, it crippled Sam’s newfound love with Drew because she never did let go of the past she shared with Jason or the space he left void in her heart. This one brought fans all the angst!
General Hospital Spoilers — Sonny, Carly, and Jason Take the Cake
When Carly first came to town, she was the same spitfire she is today, but she didn’t care who she hurt. Somehow, she still managed to snag Jason’s friendship — and that spurred into more than friends from early on. Jason became the only person to ever rescue this damsel in distress when she got tangled up with the A.J. Quartermaine (Sean Kanan). Jason signed up to play the role of father to Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and won Carly’s heart forever.
Unfortunately, the truth came out and Carly knew she had to marry A.J. to try to score custody of their son. While she may have won that war, she didn’t do it without Sonny’s help, and as he moved more into the role of being her savior, Carly again placed Jason in the friend zone. While Sonny never would’ve tolerated the same in reverse, Jason stepped aside and let his best friend ride off into the sunset with the woman he loved.
It wasn’t until nearly twenty years later that Carly and Jason found their way to one another again after Sonny’s presumed death in 2020. Carly married Jason with her full heart on board, but Sonny returned from the grave nearly one year later just moments before Jason and Carly could consummate their marriage. Still, Sonny and Carly’s fourth marriage didn’t survive his year-long hiatus. Currently, Jason is presumed dead and fans everywhere are praying for the day he rides home on his white horse and makes an honest woman out of Carly once again.
