General Hospital Spoilers: Britt’s Gone, And She Left on Her Own Terms — Sort Of
General Hospital Spoilers tease Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) has exited GH and is moving onto bigger and brighter adventures ahead. Actually, this goes for both Britt and Kelly. As Kelly moves on to cover the role of Eva Vasquez on Station 19, Britt supposedly planned to move on to greener pastures before she crosses over due to Huntington’s Disease.
Having a terminal illness and leaving town would have left the door open for a wide array of possibilities in the future, many of which would capitalize on Britt’s return to the canvas, hopefully played by Kelly. Fans would have been just fine longing for Britt’s return to the show, but now they know it’s highly unlikely that will happen. Did GH handle this all wrong?
General Hospital Spoilers — Ten Minutes to Go
We knew Britt had been waiting for her big exit, and she planned her trip to coincide with her birthday and New Year’s Eve so that she had a clean break. As she waited for her boat to arrive, with nothing more than a small bag in hand, she ended up bailing on her plans and rushing to come to Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) rescue as she was screaming for help and being chased by The Hook. Britt was there just in time to beat back the maniacal killer with her bag before Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) showed up to scare The Hook off by firing one round from a handgun.
GH Spoilers Tease A Final Goodbye
When Britt showed up at the Haunted Star to reunite with her mother, she appeared to be a bit shaken up and mildly wobbly. As she cozied up to her mom and joined her for one last birthday shot, Liesl noticed Britt had a tear in her dress. As she examined it and pulled at the dress, she revealed Britt had endured a scratch. Liesl didn’t get an answer as to what happened to Britt before she stumbled and collapsed on the floor.
General Hospital Spoilers — Did Britt Know What Laid Ahead?
Britt knew what was waiting for her. She’s a doctor, after all, and Co-Chief of Staff of General Hospital. She knew the ins and outs of the hookings that had occurred, and how quickly the venom coating the hook could take someone out. Once she knew she was grazed by it, Britt may have decided to let this be her way out now, versus waiting for Huntington’s Disease to take her slowly for years to come.
However, it could have hit her out of the blue where she only realized it too late after giving her statement to the PCPD. The whole time she waited on the police and allowed Joss and Dex to weasel out of it, she was on her way to meet her maker. We’re thrilled Britt got to say goodbye to her mutter and went out with a bang, but most fans are grieving the loss of such a good role right now — and the likely loss of it ever being reprised.
