General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Honoring The Life Of Epiphany Johnson & Sonya Eddy

General Hospital: Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy)

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate the life of Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) will be honored the week of March 27th. When the actress passed away in December 2022, the creative team at the soap began preparation to organize an episode that would celebrate the life of both an incredible character and her portrayer.

General Hospital Spoilers – There Was A “Big” Discussion On How To Approach This Show

GH spoilers reveal the special show will air on Wednesday, March 29th. The show’s producer, Frank Valentini recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest (SOD), and notes that he, along with head writers for the show, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor had a major talk on how they wanted the special episode to unfold. They went back and forth on the “pros and cons” of possibly keeping Epiphany alive and living somewhere else; however, Johnson was someone who loved the land of Port Charles. After more discussions, the three came to the conclusion that Ms. Johnson was not a character that could be recast, and it was important to dedicate an entire show to commemorate both Epiphany and Eddy.

General Hospital Updates – Port Charles Gathers To Say Goodbye To A Special Friend

During his SOD interview, Valentini reveals that the entire town will gather for a memorial service to say goodbye to the special nurse. Among some of the characters in attendance, Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), as well as hospital colleagues Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman), and Felix DuBois (Marc Samuel). Fans will also learn the circumstances behind Johnson’s untimely passing.

Valentini notes that there is a good reason why Epiphany’s memorial is taking place before the 2023 Nurse’s Ball. The gala is a fun celebration; however, fans need to be able to grieve and reflect upon Sonya and Epiphany’s death. Plus, Frank notes that Johnson was a pivotal part of the Balls in the past, and there will be a two-fold memorial for Eddy during the gala to honor Johnson at that point in time, too.

General Hospital: Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy)

During his SOD interview, Valentini states that the set of the day the memorial was filmed was very different. He feels that “everyone” was touched by what the writers wrote, and the work that went into making the episode a true testimony to what Sonay and Epiphany meant to the soap. Frank notes that there were also some tears that day; after all, the actress meant a lot to the cast and crew, and the character created a positive impact in Port Charles.

Also in attendance for filming was Eddy’s good friend, actress Ivette Nicole Brown, who will be guest staring on GH during the special show. Looks like it’ll be an incredible tribute to an amazing actress and one-of-a-kind soap character. Tune into GH on ABC next week to catch this touching episode dedicated to Epiphany Johnson, and visit GHT often for all the latest General Hospital news and spoilers.
