General Hospital spoilers, news, and updates tease that Maurice Benard responds to fans who bash the current storyline for his character, Sonny Corinthos.
On Twitter, one fan commented on a post promoting Sonny and Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) scenes on the soap. The fan said, “I wish they just killed Sonny in that fire.”
Maurice Benard Defends His Work on General Hospital
In response to the fan’s comment, Maurice Benard said, “Oh boy, you’d better take that back before my fans get upset!”
On a more serious note, Maurice Benard said that he’s still doing his best work even though his character is not with the woman GH fans want him to be, aka Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright).
“Just because I’m not with the one you want doesn’t mean I’m not busting my butt trying to do the best work of my life,” he wrote.
Regardless, Maurice Benard doesn’t seem totally upset with fans’ comments and he assured them that he still loved them by adding a kissy emoji on his post.
Fans Are Divided on Sonny-Nina Love Story
Many fans have been tweeting GH twitter and GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini to end the Sonny-Nina relationship.
“Nina is the reason Sonny life was turned upside down when he returned home, She knew Jason and Carly was getting married, and She said nothing, when is Sonny going to put the blame where it belongs, and I’m not talking about his 5 minutes of anger at the cemetery,” a fan said with a hashtag #TeamEndThis.
Another fan chimed in: “I’ll never understand why GH insists on making them a couple. None of it makes any sense. Sonny gave more fire to Michael for speaking how he felt than he did to Nina who lied to him for months!”
When another fan comment that there’s just no chemistry between Sonny and Nina, Maurice Benard suggests they’re blinded by what they want to see.
“Sometimes you only see what you wanna see. I understand that but I just see what I see I gotta tell you there’s something there,” Benard replied.
Other fans agreed there’s chemistry if you want to see it, and they say Sonny needs this change. With Nina, he’s calm, happy, and playful.
“Way more than just ‘something’. It’s so powerful you can feel it. When two actors can do that, can touch your heart, that’s some intense stuff right there. It’s magical,” another one agreed.
