Though she’s only been on General Hospital for a short time, Willow Tate has already been steeped in drama with a touch of romance and a scattering of hidden secrets since she’s been in Port Charles.
The character was introduced on General Hospital back in October of 2018 and has been a constant on the show since. Fans may wish to know who plays Willow and we’re going to get to that.
Who is Willow Tate?
Willow is introduced, as Aiden Spencer and Charlotte Cassadine’s school teacher, at a private meeting with Liz and Franco about the boy.
Aiden had been acting withdrawn and was not making friends at his school, where Willow taught, and she and the parents had a conference.
A former member of Day of the Dawn who has a history with Hank “Shiloh” Archer it is later revealed that her birth name was Kali Miller and that she is the daughter of Harmony Miller.
By 2019 it is revealed that it was harmony who forced her daughter to join the Day of the Dawn trust and ultimately have sex with Shiloh.
The drama has been a constant in the life of Willow Tate, and it looks like she’s going to be a character on General Hospital for some time to come but, who plays Willow?
Who is Katelyn MacMullen?
Willow has been portrayed by just one actress since the character was introduced in 2018. Katelyn MacMullen, born on June 27, 1995, in Las Angeles, California has portrayed Willow on General Hospital since 2018.
She began acting at a young age first with Disney and then Matel among others
Leading up to her role as Willow, the aspiring actress guest-starred in the Yahoo! Series Sin City, and appeared in the Lionsgate film, The Row.
For her portrayal as Willow on General Hospital Macmullen received two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Young Performer in a Drama Series.
More recently the actress appeared in the 2021 independent short film, Motion Detected.
In an interview with Celebrating the Soaps, MacMullen opened up about preparing for the audition for the part of Willow.
“I locked myself in my room for like a week,” she said about preparing for the audition, adding that it was the fun of being an actor, getting to “just get lost in the character.”
