Is Vincent Irizarry Coming to General Hospital?

Soap Opera fans know that Vincent Irizarry has a long history of playing parts on numerous soaps.

Longtime soap fans may remember a very young Vincent’s first role as Brandon/Lujack Luvonaczek Spaulding on Guiding Light in 1983.

Since then, the prolific soap opera actor has appeared as, Lujack’s twin brother on Guiding Light, Nick McHenry Spaulding, Dr. Scott Clark on Santa Barbara from 1987 to 1989, and Dr. David Hayword on All My Children in a role which originated in 1997.

He also played parts in One Life to Live, The Young and the Restless, and even appeared on the nighttime espionage thriller series, Homeland.

Fans have long thought he would land a role in General Hospital.

Who Is Vincent Irizarry?

One of six children, Vincent Irizarry was born in Long Island, New York on November 12, 1959, but then grew up in Lake Grove, New York.

At age 11, Irizarry began studying to play the piano, eventually becoming classically trained and attending Berklee College of Music in Boston where he discovered, and fell in love with, acting.

Later Irizarry returned to New York to continue his acting career eventually earning a full scholarship with Lee Strasberg at his Theater Institute.

The consummate actor then began his longstanding career as a daytime soap opera actor in 1983 on Guiding Light.

Open To Joining The Cast Of ‘GH’

According to Celebrating the Soaps, Irizarry said in 2020 that he would be more than happy to bring his All My Children character, Dr. David Hayword, to General Hospital.

Throughout the actor’s long, extensive relationship with the soaps, Irizarry has yet to appear on General Hospital and fans were really excited when it was revealed that he was open to the role.

Discussing the fact that he had never been to General Hospital, the actor exclaimed, “It would be fantastic to change that!” adding that he would love the chance to work with Finola Hughes (Anna) again.

In June of this year, Soap Opera Spy dished a rumor that suggested that a new Novak gangster named Tony was heading to General Hospital and that he might very well be played by Vincent Irizarry.

There is still no news of any new character on GH yet for Irizarry to play, but the seeds are planted and fans will just have to stay tuned and catch new episodes of the Emmy-winning daytime drama on Monday – Friday on ABC.
