Longtime General Hospital viewers will remember that when Valentin Cassadine first came to Port Charles, and Anna started to have flashes of past memories from WSB spy school, some of the first involved a whistling man in a hallway. Back then, Valentin was still suffering from severe scoliosis and went by the name Ivan Theodore, but he was considered one of the best and brightest WSB spy school students. He was in love with Anna, but wound up following her twin Alexandra Devane (Finola Hughes) to where she gave birth to Peter August (Wes Ramsey) aka Heinrik Faison.

Valentin had also had a romance with Anna but later found it was Alex, again impersonating her twin. General Hospital viewers will recall that tied up in Anna’s basement in a recent episode that Peter called Valentin out on his “obsessive” love for Anna, and although Anna doesn’t currently have romantic feelings for Valentin, she certainly does care for him deeply. The two of them act like Peter is their child and they’re trying to make up for their mistakes in raising him!

Even Peter can see their closeness! Many General Hospital fans can also see that they have a very deep bond, including Finn – that’s why he turned around and left Anna’s home instead of trying to talk to her when he found Valentin’s wallet on the floor! Finn can see that Anna’s feelings for Valentin could turn romantic very easily as well!

General Hospital Spoilers – Could General Hospital Have Foreshadowed A “Vanna” Pairing?

Could General Hospital have foreshadowed a “Vanna” pairing when they had Finn find Valentin’s wallet and walk away from Anna, and Peter calling Valentin out for his “obsession” over Anna? It certainly seems like there is a foundation to build a love relationship on. There wouldn’t be any problems stemming from spy cases and secrets, both of them have been trained WSB spies although Valentin spent a lot of his past as a mercenary and more time around DVX types. Anna too spent time with the DVX, she was a double agent for both the WSB and the DVX at one time, with her loyalties to the WSB. Both know what it is to have loved and lost, and both have been involved in very complicated relationships at times.

They also appear to be close to the same age, and both know what it is to have evil relatives! Valentin was decimated when he found out that not only was he not a Cassadine, but that he was born from one of Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) affairs, not one of Mikkos Cassadine’s (John Colicos)! For Anna, it was an evil twin – for Valentin, an evil mother! Anna and Alex were separated at birth and neither knew their birth father, Thomas Devane (uncast character).

Valentin may never know who his birth father was either, although it could be the same man as Helena’s daughter Irina Cassadine (Alyshia Ochse) who he never knew. Irina was thought to be insane and kept hostage in a compound, and later in the basement of Wyndemere where Ethan Sutton (Nathan Parsons) discovered her and they began a relationship. Helena would later shoot her dead in front of Ethan. No one would be surprised if General Hospital finally put the two old friends into a romance with one another!
