General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates reveals Sydney Mikayla took over the role of Trina Robinson in 2019. However, Mikayla has opted to leave the soap to focus on school. Mikayla is in her first year of college at UCLA. Mikayla’s final airdate was March 17. Fittingly, Mikayla’s last scene was her goodbye to Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez).
General Hospital – The Decision To Leave Was Sydney Mikayla’s
General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini revealed that Sydney asked to leave to focus on school. Mikayla had been doing work and school but college is a bit different than school on the set. Valentini says they were sad to see Mikayla leave the show but could understand her plight. Mikayla told Soap Opera Digest in a previous interview that she felt the time was right to dive into college life fully. Sydney says that Trina has been the high point of her career so far and she cannot wait to see what happens with the show. However, Sydney feels that leaving Trina and General Hospital is the best choice for her at this time.
General Hospital – Sydney Mikayla’s Co-stars Offer Support
General Hospital’s Sydney’s co-stars offered their support telling Sydney that focusing on these next four years is very important. Sydney’s co-stars believe that the show will still be there four years down the road and Sydney could always have the opportunity to come back if she wants. Nicholas even referred to the couple’s mesh name for Spencer and Trina, “Sprina.” Nicholas says that Trina is so talented. Sydney is doing what is important to her by focusing on her education. Nicholas wishes Sydney continued success and happiness in everything she does.
General Hospital – “Sprina” Will Continue
General Hospital’s Chavez assures fans that “Sprina” will continue since Tabyana Ali has taken over the role. Tabyana will take over the role later this month and Chavez is sure she will rock this role. Chavez believes that fans will be very excited about the progression of “Sprina.” Valentini echoes Chavez’s hope for the future as well. Ali was grateful for all the well wishes of General Hospital fans when the news broke of the recast. Of course, now that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) has framed Trina for posting the sex tape, Spencer’s loyalty is bound to be tested. Will Spencer be the one who exposes the truth?
Fans were very excited about Trina and Spencer until Esme blew into Port Charles. Will Trina and Spencer finally get to be together? Is Spencer done with Esme for good?

I happy that she is focusing on her academics. College life is not easy but very rewarding. Personally, I did not care for her acting as she made Trina very whiny and depressing. Maybe, this new actor will make Trina’s personality more relatable.
