General Hospital’s Lisa LoCicero, who plays Olivia Quartermaine, is thrilled to be working on the Autism storyline. Lisa says this is a very important story that touches a lot of people at this time.

General Hospital’s Olivia has fought everyone who tried to tell her that her son Leo Falconeri (Easton Rocket Sweda) had Autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder is not a diagnosis that any parent wants for their child. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a brain condition that affects how a person perceives and socializes with others. Autism causes problems with social interaction and communication. Autism also consists of lImited and repetitive patterns of behavior.
General Hospital has dealt with important social issues for years. Autism awareness is very important for parents who may have no idea what is happening to their children. Undiagnosed Autism can cause problems with a child’s grades as well as relationships. Parents often miss the tale-tale signs of Autism and sometimes choose to dismiss the concerns of teachers and as well as relatives.
General Hospital – Easton Rocket Sweda Is On The Spectrum
General Hospital’s Easton is on the Autism Spectrum himself so he is the perfect person to play Leo in this storyline. Easton has learned to work with his disorder to become an actor and that is a huge accomplishment. Autistic individuals are often artistic, especially musically. However, Easton chose acting and is doing a very good job.
One might think that playing an autistic person isn’t that hard but that isn’t necessarily the truth. However, it takes a lot of concentration to be an actor and Easton has perfected that. Easton’s autism does add to the story by making it true to life.
General Hospital – Keeping Up With The Times
General Hospital’s writers have brought real-life issues into the show for years. Writers have dealt with social issues like rape, addiction, autism, placenta previa, to name a few. As long as there are controversial issues in the world, soap operas will bring them to the forefront. General Hospital writers are currently working on a story about veterans’ issues as well, even showing a clothing drive for them.
However, this is G.H. so off the wall stories are not out of the question either. Currently, Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is getting away with murder and kidnapping among other things. Hopefully, the writers will continue to deal with these and other socially important matters.
