General Hospital Spoilers – Cameron Mathison Discovers Cancer
Imagine thinking that you’re having some stomach issues. You agree to an X-ray… and then find out that it’s cancer. That’s exactly what happened to Cameron Mathison in 2019.
That September, the actor/TV show host shared his shocking diagnosis on social media.
“About a month ago, I had an MRI for some gut issues I’ve been having, and during that MRI they found a tumor on my right kidney,” revealed Cameron to his Instagram followers. “It’s consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma … or kidney cancer.”
Mathison expressed gratitude rather than depression over the positive aspects of his diagnosis. He shared that the cancer had not extended to other parts of his body. In addition, Cameron revealed why he’s staying hopeful.
“The good news is that it hasn’t spread to any other organs,” noted the TV star. “They say my healthy lifestyle and diet has no doubt helped keep it from growing and spreading to other areas, as doctors think it’s been growing in me for [at least] 10 years.”
Star Shares Strength After Cancer
Following surgery for the cancerous tumor on his kidney, Mathison shared his optimistic outlook on life and renewed focus on a healthy lifestyle. And he showed pride in displaying the scars of the procedure on Instagram.
In addition, Cameron told his social media followers about the status of his health.
“I am cancer free and feeling stronger than I have in 20 years,” wrote Cameron less than a year after his surgery.
Mathison has even set up a fitness forum on Instagram, All Health 360.
The social media account shares Cameron’s newest plan to achieve a fitness transformation: A triathlon.
“Having a specific goal to train for is maybe the best motivation ever,” Mathison told his followers. “I was not a competitive triathlete, but having the date coming up was such a great way to encourage me to train and prepare. How I finished didn’t really matter as much as the preparation process and the great experience of competing.”
And although Cameron isn’t revealing any spoilers, he did transform his body just in time to star on General Hospital.
