GH Cameron Mathison Chooses Gratitude Amid Illness

General Hospital (GH) star Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain) has been unwell, but despite that, he chose to welcome 2026 with gratitude. Read on to find out more about it.
7 Days Of Illness
Taking to his Instagram on January 5, Cameron told his ABC fans that he’s been sick for a full week. So, that means he was under the weather on New Year’s. Still, he’s not letting it get him down.
In his series of photos, he showed himself with his kids. If you don’t know, they’ve been staying at their cabin in the Edwards area in Colorado.

Actually, he must have just been going down with a bad flu the day he posted about how strange it felt with little to no snow this year. Still, he did manage to get in some time skiing with the family.
In his caption, the real life Drew Cain told his followers:
Seven days down with the flu has me revisiting what really matters.
Quiet mountain days, skiing with my kids, long talks, hot tubs, and family time I’ll never take for granted.
Of course, he knows how precious life and sentimental things can be. After all, he lost his home during the Palisades fire this time last year. Notably, it impacted his life a lot. Still, he keeps positive, and General Hospital fans take that as inspirational.
Fans React
In the comments section, loads of GH fans wished the ABC star a full and fast recovery. One of them wrote, “Flu. Ugh. Talk about our bodies speaking to us! Hope you are feeling better now and glad you were in Good Hands with L & L.”
Here are a few more sympathetic responses from the discussion that followed:
- Hope you recover soon… everyone here has it too!! Wish I could send you my homemade chicken soup.. delicious!
- The flu has taken out everyone, including myself – feel better soon! These pictures are awesome.
- You are such a good Papa! Hope everyone feels better soon!
- hope you are doing better Cam! So sorry you were sick! Prayers for a rapid recovery! Take care.
Nancy Was Also Unwell
Actually, it seems as if the flu has been a nasty one this winter. Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) also got ill. So, when she and her daughter, Kate Grahn, took their festive season break this year, she mentioned that her flu also lasted for days. However, she seems to be better now.
Nancy lost her voice for a bit, so probably it’s just as well the daytime soap wasn’t filming at the time.
Did you get the flu this winter? Did it make you feel dreadful? Like Cameron Mathison, were you still able to count the things to be grateful for this year? Let us know in the comments below, and come back often for all your General Hospital cast news and updates.
