Maurice Benard, (Sonny Corinthos) from General Hospital started his State of Mind podcast to advocate for mental health. On February 21, he hoped for 150K subscribers. Read on to find out if the ABC star reached his target.
The Crime Boss Has Great Guests
Recently, GH fans who listened to the podcast saw that he spoke with Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall.) Occasionally, he ventures outside of mental health, and he does reveal some behind-the-scenes chatter about the ABC drama.
For example, On February 21, in an Instagram video, Maurice Benard lightly chatted about scenes regarding Cyrus Renault, (Jeff Kober.) Notably, he wouldn’t spill on spoilers that the showwriters were killing off Cyrus. Instead, he moved on and talked about reaching 150K subscribers.
Reaching 150K Subscribers?
The State of Mind website shows that Benard found “102K subscribers.” However, YouTube shows a different number. In his reel, the GH award-winning actor said:
I’m trying to get to 150 subscriptions and I’m very close. Whoever hasn’t watched State of Mind or hasn’t subscribed, can you please do it so I can reach 150,000 by the end of the night, please.
Additionally, Maurice Benard explained his next goal, saying, “I know a lot of people have already subscribed but I’m really looking…”
Encouraging Fans To Follow
It certainly seems as if many General Hospital fans already helped the ABC star out but he needs more. In the caption, he wrote, “Are we going to get to the goal on @mbstateofmind by tonight, 150,000 subs?… THANK YOU.”
On YouTube, at least, it looks like the goal was achieved. On February 22, the podcast profile showed “150K Subscribers.” Well, keep on passing the word about the podcast because, on Instagram, Benard also told his followers, “I really want to hit 200,000 subscriptions.”
GH fans adore the man who acts as Sonny Corinthos and many of them enjoy his guests who get candid about their mental health on the podcast. So far this year, Chad Duell, (Michael Corinthos), Carlo Rota, and Sharon Case were just a few of his guests.
Reaching New Listeners
On the Instagram post, many fans of Maurice Benard discussed the podcast, and some of them went over to subscribe. One of them said, “Kelly Monaco was reporting heading to Beyond The Gates.”
Another one noted, “I think my subscription went thru ..been watching GH since the 60s.”
