General Hospital Spoilers: Where Did All The Romance Go?

We once had Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam (Kelly Monaco), Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard), Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Franco (Roger Howarth), Anna (Finola Hughes) and Finn (Michael Easton), Lulu (Emme Rylan) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry), and Chase (Josh Swicjard) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), among others. While they each had their own fan base and not each pair was everyone’s cup of tea, at least they were together, as couples and love are what soaps are all about at their core. In fact, one could say that GH invented the supercouple after pairing Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) more than four decades ago, so what happened?

This happened. Sam dumped Jason, Sonny is presumed dead, Peter (Wes Ramsey_ killed Franco, Finn learned Anna kept a big secret, Lulu lapsed into a never-ending coma, Jordan lied too much, and Chase and Willow became such a mess it could take a novel to explain what happened there.

We thought we were getting a new pair with Jason and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and were actually enjoying them, but then Carly had to decide she and Jason needed to marry — for the sake of the business of course. Sure, Carly. Just keep telling everybody that. Dante and Sam have started to become intriguing, but now she is obsessed with finding Drew (Cameron Mathison), as she should be. Will this get in the way of her blossoming relationship with Dante?

New Couples On The Horizon?

Finn and Anna are now apart, but the chemistry between Valentin and Anna is as strong as ever and hopefully, GH goes in that direction. We also hope to see Dante and Sam try to see if they can make it and maybe give Drew to Elizabeth, since this experiment of seeing if she can be paired with Finn isn’t working. Of course, she had the perfect pairing with Franco, but General Hospital decided to kill him.

The teen scene has potential, but so far, Joss (Eden McCoy) and Cam (Will Lipton) are just bland after being nothing more than friends for years. Maybe Joss and Carly need to learn a lesson about taking friendship to the next level.
