General Hospital’s Marcus Coloma Justifies Nikolas’ Affair Claiming He Was Suicidal
General Hospital spoilers reveal Nikolas Cassadine continuing to keep a big secret from his wife. He slept with the evil Esme Prince in a moment of both stupidity and passion, but actor Marcus Coloma doesn’t see it that way.
General Hospital Star Claims His Character Needed Esme To Live
When GH fans saw and what was in Marcus Coloma’s mind when he taped the sex scenes with Avery Kristen Pohl’s Esme Prince, which was scored with what sounded like porn music and get shown over and over and over ago in flashbacks, seem to differ. Fans saw something tawdry they didn’t approve of, but Coloma can understand what Nikolas did it.
“Look, it’s dark,” he said in the July 12, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “I went into the idea that Nikolas knows that he’s a horrible father and as much as he loves his son, he just keeps screwing things up.”
And he even screwed up his marriage when he took Esme’s despite Ava Jerome (Maura West) knowing in her heart that it was Esme who made the sex tape of Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Cameron Webber (Will Lipton) and set up Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) to take the fall.
“When he loses Ava, he goes to Wyndemere, he’s drinking a large amount of alcohol, I believe, with the idea of ending [his life]. It wasn’t premeditated…I genuinely think he was in the frame of mind that the world would be better off without him. And when Esme comes in, she kind of saves his life in a weird, twisted way, and because of that, there’s almost this euphoric, ‘I just survived death’ where he’s disconnected from the world, and in that split second, it feels like only him and Esme that exist on the planet.”
Now Ava Wants Nikolas Back
Nikolas certainly didn’t seem suicidal as he continued to conspire with his uncle, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy), believing he had the whole world ahead of him, but we guess Coloma had to justify what his character did somehow.
To many fans, it just looked like Nikolas got caught up in a moment with an attractive teenager and did a very bad thing, especially now that Ava wants him back and Esme is carrying around this secret like a prize. Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see how this story plays out.
Sorry….but I’m calling b.s. on that explanation. It was downright disgusting to watch (which I couldn’t do!) and that is the lamest excuse he could have given.
Suicidal??? Give me a break. If anything it was nothing more than self pity and even that is a disgusting excuse. Nothing justifies his behavior with Esme, no matter what kind of spin he tries to put on it, and especially not if he truly is wanting to rebuild his relationship with Spencer….Sleeping with his girlfriend won’t cut it.
The Nicholas we have come to know over the years is not a gullible weak man like what is currently being portrayed. The writers strike again!!
