General Hospital’s Cynthia Watros Celebrates Three Years As Nina Reeves
General Hospital spoilers reveal Nina Reeves getting deeper involved with Sonny Corinthos even if he is throwing her some red flags of late, but if there is anything fans know about Nina, she will throw herself head first into a relationship no matter who plays her. June 17, 2022, marks three years of Cynthia Watros as Nina and the character has definitely come a long way.
General Hospital’s Nina and Valentin
When Watros first assumed the role of Nina from Michelle Stafford, the actress who originated the character and decided to head back to The Young and the Restless and play Phyllis Summers, Nina was still involved with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and believed that Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) was the daughter taken from her when she spent 20 years in a coma induced by her mother, Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills).
Watros got to show what Nina was made of when she learned both Valentin and Sasha had been lying to her the entire time, with Sasha in over her head from the start. She learned the truth as she was about to remarry Valentin, then tricked him into believing she forgave him, confronting him at a second attempt at remarriage.
Nina Moves Onto Jax
While Nina’s relationship with Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) was pretty stale, he at least seemed to treat her right and even Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) liked her then. Jax helped Nina try to track down her real daughter, but then he betrayed her and it was all because of Carly.
When Nina learned Jax helped Carly keep the secret that Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) was her daughter, she went ballistic and dumped him, and then made one of the biggest mistakes of her life.
Nina Meets Smike
Yes, Nina was very, very wrong not to tell Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) family she knew he was alive, but there is still no denying that A-she would have told the truth if Carly had let her speak when Nina first discovered Sonny in Nixon Falls and B-there is just something between Sonny and Nina no matter how auspiciously their relationship started.
Three years after Watros started on General Hospital, she is up for a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Lead Actress on June 24. Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays and watch the Emmys next week to see who wins.
