General Hospital Star Cynthia Watros Is Ready For The Daytime Emmys
General Hospital star Cynthia Watros already picked up a Daytime Emmy way back in 1998 for playing crazy Annie Dutton on Guiding Light and nearly a quarter of a century later, she is ready to do so again for her role of Nina Reeves.
General Hospital’s Nina And Carly Compete
Anyone watching GH right now knows that Nina Reeves is the woman Carly Corinthos wants to see hurt the most, but way back in their Guiding Light days, Watros and actress Laura Wright were friends when Wright played Cassie Layne and they remain friends today. However, both actresses are up for lead actress Emmys in 2022 and are competing against one another.
That makes it an interesting category to watch on Friday when the Emmys are presented, but we’re sure there will be no hard feelings between any of the ladies nominated no matter who wins. In fact, Watros is thrilled to be in the running with her co-star.
“I love it. I have so much respect and love for Laura,” Watros told Soap Opera Digest. “That we get to do it together and hang out is going to be a highlight.”
Cynthia Watros Looks Back
As for Watros, it’s an honor just to be up for an award voted on by her peers. It also brings back memories of that night so many years ago when she also took home a statuette.
“It means a lot because your fellow actors are voting on the piece of work you put together,” Watros told Digest. “When I won in 1998, it was an amazing night and then I had this whole life [after that]. Now I’m so blessed to be back in daytime and this time around, I think I appreciate it a little bit more. I feel very lucky in my life.”
Watros has had quite a year as Nina as she made a big mistake by not telling Sonny Corinthos of his true identity when they were in Nixon Falls, and then she unwittingly fell in love with him. She may not be able to see her grandson, Wiley (for now), but at least she seems to have gotten the guy as Carly divorced Sonny and it turns out he really does have feelings for her now that his memory is back.
