Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) may have thought the life he was building with his late wife was long ago left in the past, but he learned earlier this year that her path crossed with Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) some 25 years ago.
Learning Reiko had an affair with her father, Elizabeth pushed her down a flight of stairs, which ultimately led to Reiko’s alleged death.
Her parents came back into her life pretending to come clean with her when they actually sold her — and Finn — yet another lie.
Reiko didn’t die, and Elizabeth didn’t kill her, but it was always the plan to let them think that was what happened.

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind month for Finn and Elizabeth. They were friends just trying to find their groove through the awkward moments of both of them sensing more than that between themselves.
Then, they migrated to an official date after Violet Finn’s (Jophielle Love) sweet attempt to set them up on one. Putting all of their cards on the table, they now know where each other stands — firmly next to one another.
Asking Elizabeth to be Violet’s legal guardian wasn’t the tender moment fans were expecting, but those itching or a proposal soon just might get their wish. Is Finn about to pop the question?

Of course, a gleeful yes from Elizabeth won’t mean this marriage is a done deal. While she would love nothing more than to move on from being auntie and legal guardian to Violet to being her stepmom, it would seem that her family has other plans in store for her.
When Elizabeth and Finn broke up, Jeff Webber (William R. Moses) didn’t think he had anything left to worry about. Her entanglement with Finn would be a thing of the past, or so he thought.
Now, he’ll have to tell Elizabeth the rest of the story he was hoping to keep from her, and it’s not going to go over well with Finn.

Finn isn’t the type of guy to let too much get in the way of him and the woman he loves. He and Elizabeth have been dancing around their future together forever now, and losing a patient recently may have helped Finn to put things into perspective.
Who could blame the guy for not wanting to wait around for the next tragedy to strike? Why waste a minute when he could marry Elizabeth and blend their families permanently?
