General Hospital spoilers reveal Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) watched on as everyone boarded the plane in Greenland to head back home, and a sense of relief washed over him. He knew that now was the time to focus on his own future, to build a life with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) by his side — and Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) in their arms.
Spencer has been determined from the start to annex Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) from his baby brother’s life, and that plan held weight until he had to see her again. Watching her take her son into her arms and seeing the same relief wash over her knowing he was okay was quite a blow to Spencer’s softer side. He knows what it’s like to grow up without his mother; does he really want that for Ace?

Trina and Spencer both want to protect Ace; that much is clear, but at what cost? Going back to a life with Esme in it was not something either of them wanted. Spencer’s one-track mind just might get him into trouble this time around and he turns his cheek to reality in favor of seeing what he wants to see. Esme isn’t going to make that easy though, as they begin to cohabitate and he is forced to see what motherly love looks like firsthand.
GH Spoilers Suggest Trina Hammers it Home
Trina, of all people, is going to be the person who holds Spencer accountable and reminds him of his goals every time he starts to waver. While it’s true that Trina’s real motivations might be rooted in her insecurity that Spencer is now living with his ex-girlfriend, the ends will justify the means in her mind. Spencer will put on a good show when he’s with Esme and his grandmother, Laura Collins (Genie Francis), and neither of them will see it coming when he pushes for custody of his brother.

Perhaps Spencer gets his tendency to live in ignorant bliss from his grandmother, which is just what Laura is used to doing when Spencer does something less than savory that she doesn’t really approve of. She’s good at keeping up appearances, too, just like he is. She’d never condone his bad behavior, but she’s great at making excuses for it. So he’s come to expect that support from her, and when he doesn’t receive it this time around as he aims to take Ace from his natural-born mother, it could serve to change the dynamic between grandmother and grandson permanently.
