General Hospital spoilers reveal Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) may be the least likely of friends, given their current positions, but these two have been thick as thieves through the years.
That won’t stop now just because Laura is the Mayor and Sonny is one of the most renowned mobsters in the world. Instead, Laura considers him quite the ally, and she has tremendous respect for the family values he instills in his own children.
That’s why she’s always been a big supporter of him staying close to Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), and this time around, she just might need him to zero in on his nephew and make sure he’s doing okay in the wake of Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) and Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) moving out of Laura’s penthouse — and into the world on their own.
General Hospital Spoilers — Spencer Puts Up a Good Front
Spencer knows how to carry himself, and he has certainly figured out how to hide his feelings over the years. He’s a stoic guy, but his heart is breaking not being in his baby brother’s everyday life anymore.
As Esme continues to push him to the side, Spencer will grow more convinced that she wants to alienate him from Ace’s life — a move he’ll vow he will never allow to happen.
Laura and Sonny do a pretty good job at seeing through the tough external facade Spencer puts on, and it’s going to lead them to wonder whether he’s actually coping with this change very well at all.
GH Spoilers Hint Alexis and Sonny Make Small Talk
Esme will be the furthest thing from Sonny’s mind when he mentions to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) that Spencer is struggling a bit to go on with life as though he’s not aching for Ace every single day.
Alexis should know better, being an editor and attorney, than to let her loose lips sink this ship, but she’ll consider it mere small talk when she tells Sonny about Esme’s secret feelings for Spencer.
Yes, word on the street is Esme’s budding feelings for Spencer have been the problem all along that drove her to find her own place, and now Sonny is going to know it, which means Spencer is going to know it soon, too.

When Sonny sits down with his nephew to check in on him, Spencer is going to know the routine. He’ll also suspect that Laura asked Sonny to lend his time and ear to him. Fair enough, but Spencer is not in the mood for anyone’s pity.
He can handle Ace moving out, and he knows it’s in his best interest. What he doesn’t know are Esme’s real motives for her grand exit.
