General Hospital Spoilers: Fans Lament: Alexis Deserves a Romance That Doesn’t End in Death
General Hospital spoilers indicate fans are growing quite exhausted by the never-ending barrage of men who come into Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) and leave her broken and barely hanging on to her sanity or sobriety.
The few who have entered it just to wind up dead are no exception. Julian Jerome (William deVry) gave fans much to talk about. His torrid love affair with Alexis kept us on the edges of our seats, salivating for more.
But Julian met his fate at the hands of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and while Alexis wasn’t with him anymore and didn’t logically want to be, her heart always called to the guy.
When she met Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan), we thought she might get her happily ever after. But of course, even after losing her career for her relationship, she lost Neil when Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) injected him with a lethal dose of opioids as he lay sleeping next to his lady love.
Losing Neil wasn’t enough; Alexis had to be the one to discover his lifeless body. Now, we’ve watched her warm to Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) for the past year, much of it while knowing he’s battling a terminal illness — and losing. Fans are torn between enjoying Gregory and Alexis’ friendship, and also wanting her to have a better option than being a recurring widow figure.
General Hospital Spoilers — Alexis Has Made Peace With Her Destiny
She might not be comfortable with the idea of never being a practicing lawyer again, but Alexis has more or less made peace with never again being someone’s other half. She may never walk down the aisle and pledge her love to someone again the way she did to Julian Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) — men she truly loved.
Alexis lost her mother and father at a young age and has never truly recovered from the person her father was, or the way she was reared. She’s never felt she could be in a relationship that wasn’t at the very least as dysfunctional as she is.
GH Spoilers Claim There Has Been Such Profound Loss
This is more than a few bad break-ups Alexis is housing in her portfolio or relationships. Julian may have died, and Neil may have even died because of her. But she has lost many men in her life who remain in the ether somewhere — without her. She never could hang onto a decent one — or an indecent one, for that matter.
Hitching herself to Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) was something of a marriage of convenience, but he remained a true friend to her, too. However, he’s been gone for nearly two years without a word. Ric dropped off the scene and apparently out of Molly Lansing Davis’ (Brooke Anne Smith) life, though it’s never mentioned.
Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roché) was a blip she’d like to forget. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) may be her dearest friend now, but there was a time she adored him and he felt absolutely the same way — about someone else. Ouch. We can totally sympathize with why Alexis has stopped putting herself out there.
General Hospital Spoilers — We’re Rooting for a Misdiagnosis
Gregory seems to have been written into the show in a more in-depth way since the revelation that his ex-wife had an affair with her stepson, Finn. But was the intent always to write him in just to cast him out?
If so, why the heavy sparring and noticeable attraction between her and Gregory? Are we really waiting for him to become an invalid before we see him fall for Alexis — as though she couldn’t have scored such an accomplished man when he was still in his heyday?
At this point, we’re hoping the GH Gods decide Gregory has contracted some horribly rare virus that mimics ALS — which, of course, Finn will cure. Because Alexis needs a man, and we can’t wait to see the duration of Gregory’s life play out and another year or two of her grief before she can possibly open herself up to someone else.
