Carolyn Hennesy, who has been away from General Hospital for more than six months after years of playing Diane Miller, has addressed her absence from the soap on social media.
The question of the year is “When Will Diane Return to GH?”
During an “Ask Me Anything” video posted to Instagram, Hennesy answered a fan who wanted to know whether she would be returning to GH anytime soon.
“Don’t know,” she said. “Hope so. Fingers crossed.”
She also encouraged fans to speak up and show their support for Diane’s return to the show; Hennesy has portrayed the character since December 2006.

Hennesy Pushed Back Against Misinformation Concerning Her Absence From The Show
On X (formerly Twitter), Hennesy pushed back against misinformation about her absence from General Hospital and why Diane has been a topic of discussion.
Most recently, on the November 3 episode, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) questioned why the attorney wasn’t at Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) side while she faced questions from the PCPD about her role in Jack Brennan’s (Chris L. McKenna) death.

In response to a user who speculated that Hennesy had “serious medical issues” and probably wouldn’t return to the screen anytime soon, the actress replied, “If you’re talking about me… no medical issues.”

Another X user, @ContessDonatela, said they had heard that scheduling conflicts between Hennesy and the soap were keeping her from filming at GH.
Hennesy dismissed that claim, too, with a simple response: “Nope.”
In November 2025, Hennesy underwent multiple surgeries after breaking her leg; she returned to GH in January 2026, filming her scenes as Diane in a wheelchair as the show incorporated her real-life injury into the character’s storyline.
Her most recent appearance as Diane was in the April 14 episode; Hennesy has also made clear that she appreciates fans’ interest in Diane’s whereabouts and misses appearing on the ABC soap.
