General Hospital Ratings Soar with New Twists

General Hospital is doing well in the ratings at the moment, and it seems that the storylines appeal to viewers of the ABC show. Read on for more details.

The 18-49 Demographic

According to the latest Nielsen ratings from Soap Opera Network, GH achieved a strong second-place position in certain demographic groups. Actually, the ratings sit at the best since March 2024.

Definitely, the show’s rating among women aged 18-49 increased to a 0.26 share, a notable jump from the previous week’s 0.16.

Similarly, in the 25-54 age demographic, the show earned a 0.37 share, up from 0.29 the week before. The daytime series also saw an increase of 97,000 total viewers, reaching an audience of “1.891 million.”

A Close Second & Storylines

While The Young and the Restless led the pack in the 18-49 demo, General Hospital came in at a close second. In the 25-54 demo, the ABC daytime soap surpassed The Bold and the Beautiful and was just slightly behind The Young and the Restless.

What storylines influenced the changes to the ratings for the daytime drama? Well, first up there’s the story about Maxie Jones, thought to have a heart attack during her Home & Hearth show. Being in a coma raised all sorts of speculation and spoilers.

Additionally, some folks believe that she was poisoned. Of course, it was probably all contrived to pave the way for Kirsten Storms’ exit. On the show, plenty of worry arrived for the family. And, in the meantime, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) felt upset about his son Michael being investigated.

Other Spoilers

Interest in GH seems to be improving, and spoilers suggest that viewers won’t be disappointed. Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) talked about how Maxie’s transplanted heart is under strain. Meanwhile, the return of Ryan Paevey is generating a lot of buzz amongst ABC fans.

Ryan returns in September, or early October. However, it’s not clear whether he comes back as Nathan West. But of course, it’s possible in the world of soaps. Remember Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) killed him off. Fan just hope he doesn’t come back as a twin. 

As Paevey seems to have zipped his lips on any spoilers, it’s yet another reason for viewers to tune in and watch the show, thus keeping ratings high.

The Rick Lansing Storyline

Another twist to the writers’ storylines involves a crime. Spoilers revealed that Port Charles is getting interesting following the drama that unfolded at Alexis Davis’s residence, where a heated confrontation led Ava Jerome to strike Ric Lansing on the head with a concrete sculpture.

Kristina Corinthos Davis is said to have witnessed the entire fatal event, leaving both her and Ava trapped in a frightening predicament. The development opens up several tense possibilities: will the two women conceal what happened, or will they justify Ava’s actions as self-defense?

The who-dunnit, why-they-dunnit is surely to keep viewers engaged for several episodes.
