General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that alum John Stamos (Blackie Parrish) has been cast as the lead on a new Disney+ series, Big Shot. He is perhaps best known for his role of Jesse Katsopolis on the ABC sitcom Full House but General Hospital fans will never forget his star turn in Port Charles in 1980.

Stamos will play the role of Coach Marvyn Corn on Big Shot. After the character is fired as the coach of an NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) team, he must hit the pavement and find something new.
He ends up coaching an all-girls high school basketball team, which is a professional come down. But as fans should expect from Stamos and Disney, it’s all about Marvyn’s growth as a person. Along the way the kids are taught important life lessons and in the end everyone wins. What’s not to like?

At a recent press conference, Stamos talked about being cast as Coach Corn. His rep told him to expect a call from legendary tv producer and writer, David E. Kelly (Ally McBeal, Big Little Lies and Big Sky). Stamos said, “I just love him. What do I play? Do I play a lawyer?”
Stamos says that Marvyn has made some mistakes but his new job could lead to championships and redemption. He said Marvyn needs to change and learn: “He listens and he grows, certainly, through the first season. [This] is one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever had.”

The actor said he was worried when he heard the series wasn’t about the law but about sports, but he got to practice with legendary Laker’s great Jerry West, aka the NBA logo.
All this talk of Stamo’s return to television will make fans long for a comeback on GH especially now that Kim Delaney has picked up the role of 80s character Jackie Templeton. Demi Moore starred as Jackie in the 80s and like Stamos she debuted on GH then went on to become a household name. After some spinning of wheels, Jackie seems to be getting some airtime and her possible baby mama connection to soon to be married Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) could become a major bombshell plot point.
Big Shot debuts on the Disney+ streaming channel on Friday, April 16.
