General Hospital Cast: Snacks, Stats, & Staying Power
Josh Swickard's fitness goals vs. National Snack Day! Plus, Van Hansis and Maurice Benard's 2026 resolution progress.

General Hospital (GH) stars often post mindfulness, wellbeing, and other resolutions, but it’s March 5. And that means it’s once again time for those quirky National Days. They include National Snack Day, National Cheese Doodle Day, and National Hospital Day. Let’s see how the ABC Soap stars are doing.
Stars With Staying Power
Maybe you’re reaching for your popcorn over world events. Or, that bag of crisps while pondering the happy advent of a celebratory day dedicated to eating snacks. Well, it might be an excellent time for GH fans to look back at those New Year resolutions from just a few months ago.
Are General Hospital stars sticking to their convictions? Or are they already falling into the silly season of March? Admittedly, it was interesting to hear those resolutions on General Hospital’s YouTube. But now, you might be a bit intrigued to check out their staying power.
The Battle Of The Abs: Snack Day Edition
Back in January, Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase) set the bar high for himself. During the rather fun GH chat, he joked that his resolution was to “one day have a better body than Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain).”

Well, Mathison in real life seems way dedicated to fitness. Often, he shares his workouts and “health-first” lifestyle on Instagram. For Swickard, today, National Cheese Doodle Day might test the level of his determination.
Is he hitting the gym for extra reps, or is he joining the rest of us chowing down on orange snacks? Of course, we all love that sort of rivalry. But, given their dedication to their second homes in the gym, probably, neither of them will fall while the other resists temptation.
Honoring The Real ‘Hospital’
Did you know that March 5 is also National Hospital Day? Well, it’s been around since 2019, so maybe it’s time to give a big shoutout to the fictional MDs in the ABC show. Van Hansis (Lucas Jones) had shared his resolution that seemed quite funny. He’d quipped, “stay out of the catacombs and off the parapets.”
Well, for a doctor in Port Charles, staying well away from Wyndemere seems serious, at least for the fictional characters. But so far this year, Lucas managed to get perilously close to that cursed place.

In fact, he’s in grave danger over his discovery of Sidwell’s unethical experiments. And things get worse as he and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) face threats against them. So much for his resolution on being in the good books!
Advocacy & Awareness
More seriously, March 5 happens to also be Brain Injury Awareness Day. Of course, that brings Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) into the picture. However, it also relates to Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and his mental health mission.
While Maurice’s lighthearted resolution for Sonny was to “finally get some lovin’,” his real-life focus remains on mental health through his State of Mind podcast.

Of course, as he’s awlays candid about his own mental health and bipolar issues. So, it seems that he still persues his resolution to suffer so “others don’t have to,” per his birthday special.
How Are You Handling Resolutions?
Whether they studiously avoid National Snack Day to keep a “Mathison-level” physique or stay away from dangerous places, the GH cast seems to be handling 2026 with plenty of humor.
What about you, ABC soap fans? Are you celebrating National Snack Day by being as good as gold like Josh Swickard and hitting the gym? Are you staying in the moment and being mindful of your mental health like Maurice?
