General Hospital spoilers, news, and updates tease that Alicia Leigh Willis opened up about one of the reasons why she left the soap back in 2006. Many were surprised by her exit and now she revealed that part of the reason was her co-star, Maurice Benard.
Back then, many people asked why she was leaving the show when in fact, she was offered another four years. During an interview with Benard on State of Mind, the actress recalled that knew she couldn’t stay because she was no longer happy.
Then she revealed that Benard, who plays the role of Sonny Corinthos on the soap, was part of the reason why she left. She had no idea that the actor was suffering from bipolar disorder, and she didn’t know what he was going through. So, when he was in a bad mood, she took it personally and thought that it was her fault.
“I would come to work, and one day you would be the most charming, lovely person, and then another day I was a little scared of you,” she told Benard.
“I was like, ‘Does he hate me? Did I do something?’ I sent you an email where we talked about it a little bit. I didn’t understand it. I was just a kid, just a stupid, naive kid who was still finding her way,” she explained.
She recalled her last year at the show when she would hide in her dressing room and cry. She felt like nobody was there for her. There were times when she felt that she had no clue who her friends were and if there was anybody who would support and be there for her.
Benard Explains His Side
The actor admitted that he was struggling back then when he was working with Willis. He admitted going through some dark stuff, and he took it out on Tamara Braun. He was a different guy back then, and he apologized for his actions.
Willis said if they were just able to talk before like the way they’re doing now, then it would have been a lot easier for everyone back then.
Jane Elliot Set to Return To General Hospital
Elsewhere, Jane Elliot confirmed that she’s returning to Port Charles. She’ll be reprising her role as Tracy Quartermaine this coming April. But aside from Elliot, rumors have been spreading that Luke Spencer (Anthony Greary) may come back, too, this spring. Fans know that the character died last year, so many are wondering if he’ll return as an apparition or something else. Fans will just have to wait and see if he’ll make a comeback or not.
