GH Star Nancy Lee Grahn’s Blunt Midterm Message Divides Fans
One longtime viewer threatened to quit watching the ABC soap after the Alexis Davis actress shared an expletive-filled message.
General Hospital (GH) fans know that Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) can be very outspoken when it comes to her political stance, but this week’s social media post divided her followers as it seemed rather hostile. Read on for more details.
A Blunt Political Message
On the night of Tuesday, October 6, Nancy took to her Instagram and posted up a card that she labeled as “AI content.” Possibly, she used AI to make the graphics.
What seemed to shock some General Hospital fans was the fact that her graphic included phrases like “I unequivocally hate you,” “clueless asshole,” and then another “I fucking hate you.”
The message was aimed at people who don’t vote Democratic.
Why Is It Still Up?
GH fans might wonder why it was still up on Instagram four hours later. It should be noted that Meta’s policies prohibit hateful conduct targeting people based on protected characteristics, but political affiliation isn’t included on that list.
Instagram also prohibits credible threats of violence, although Grahn’s post did not make a direct threat of physical harm.
Divided Fans React
In the comments section, a few people told Nancy Lee Grahn that they love her, but the responses were clearly divided.
At least one follower claimed they won’t watch General Hospital anymore. They wrote, “Goodbye GH after 55 years!”
Others who commented included another follower who said, “hate me all you want.”
Agreeing that political differences can cause division, one follower told Nancy that disagreement over it cost them their entire family.
They wrote, “I get how you feel Nancy. MAGA and Fox News has brainwashed and destroyed my relationships with family. I don’t hate them but I F***ing hate Trump and Fox News for spewing his lies.”
Others objected to the expression of hate itself. One person wrote: “Hate kills. Passionate politics provides a solid platform.”
Someone else opined, “What????? None of these people will be in heaven… Lots of real estate available up there.”
Contract Renewed
In the past, Nancy Lee Grahn has been called out, and rumors suggested that her political stance could cost her her job on the ABC daytime show. However that never happened.
In fact, Celebrating the Soaps reported at the end of June that her contract was renewed for another three years.
The news came via the Soapy podcast which is hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart.
Whatever criticism Grahn has faced from some viewers over her political posts, it hasn’t prevented her from securing another three years on the soap.
Grahn is free to make her political views known, just as followers are free to disagree with what she posts.
