General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that the 15000th episode of GH is now being filmed! Cast and crew celebrated with a party and very impressive cake!
General Hospital Spoilers – April 1st Was GH’s 59th Anniversary
Longtime viewers will remember the soap first aired on April 1, 1959, ran for a half hour and was filmed in black and white, color television being not widely available. Today of course, it runs for an hour and is in high definition color and available in broadcast and streaming, running for a few years at forty-five minutes. Many of the cast – which is quite large – and crew celebrated with a party and a huge cake, and a photo was taken of those there and posted on social media.
The very special episode was also filmed on April 1st, and sources say it will air on June 17th. Viewers will remember a previous anniversary episode honored departing cast member Tony Geary with a Luke Spencer centric episode – this one will honor his ex-wife, Laura Collins (Genie Francis).
GH Spoilers – Genie Francis Comments On The Episode
Genie Francis commented in an “On The Red Carpet” clip televised on Los Angeles channel 7 about the show and the length of time it’s been on. She commented to “On The Red Carpet” reporter George Pennachio that she doesn’t think anyone can believe it’s really been on the air this long. Genie said that is quite an accomplishment as to how many different generations of people it’s gone through, and she has played Laura Vining Webber Baldwin Spencer Collins since her teens.
Genie is happy with how her character has grown and changed over the years, from a vulnerable teenager to a strong woman, which she focuses on. Longtime viewers have seen the show age along with them through many different openings, music, characters, but with drama always being a staple.
General Hospital Spoilers – The Laura Collins Centric Anniversary Episode Will Feature The Gamut Of Emotions
Producer Frank Valentini noted that the anniversary episode will feature the gamut of emotions, from happy to sad, from secure to scared, from light-hearted to dark. It will also feature almost every current cast member in it, minus a few who were off doing other projects, such as Cameron Mathison who is making a movie. Viewers recall Cameron took over the Drew Cain role after a few years of being presumed dead when Billy Miller left the role.
It will be interesting to see how GH scriptwriters explain Drew’s absence this time while Cameron works on his movie. One character who definitely won’t be absent is Sonny Corinthos, played by Maurice Benard!
GH Spoilers – Let Them Eat Cake, But Not Me!
Maurice gave up a secret about these high calorie celebrations in the George Pennachio interview also, admitting he doesn’t touch the cakes because he’s real disciplined. However, he laughed as he said it so he may have just been kidding about letting them eat cake, but not him! GH viewers have to admit they would have a hard time believing the portrayer of the Corinthos Coffee baron wouldn’t like a piece of cake with his coffee! But since Sonny is better known as his alter ego the mob boss, maybe what Maurice really meant is that he never TORCHES the cake!
