General Hospital’s Vanessa Marcil Responds To Candace Cameron Bure’s Anti-LGBTQ Comments
Vanessa Marcil has got something to say to Candace Cameron Bure. In case you’re new to the headlines Candace Cameron Bure has been making, below are the details.
As we all know, Candace left Hallmark Media to join Great American Family. In her last interview with Wall Street Journal on Monday, Candace stated that GAF Christmas movies will be solely focused on traditional marriages because Christian movies are underscored.
“I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” Abbott added that “spiritual or faith-based content is grossly underserved.”
The comments didn’t sit well with fans and some celebrities who are advocates for LGBTQ people.
Vanessa Marcil — Vanessa’s Reaction to Candace’s Comments
The star of General Hospital Vanessa Marcil who is well known for supporting children who identify as LGBTQIA+ because she has a son who came out as gay, and who she loves and supports very much has dropped her two pence on Candance’s comments.
Vanessa’s Instagram post read, “As women and as mothers it is our job to protect our children. All of our children. Not just the privileged ones in our household.”
“Speaking from a platform to stand for hate and exclusion of children, who have the highest rates of suicide, while covering it with some bullshit about bravery, religion, and these commercialized holidays? Go ahead and make that money, but it appears it’ll never be enough.”
“Standing for hate in order to gain more popularity in these circles where our bread is buttered is something that we can bet the ‘Lord’ is documenting & she is not going to be pleased with us on ‘judgement day’ If there is a heaven, we won’t be getting the good room there if we stand for hate and division and if we don’t stand up for our most vulnerable.”
Vanessa Marcil — Candace’s Response To Critics
Seeing as her comments were taken to be negative, and how fellow celebrities like JoJo Siwa who’s also a strong advocate of LGBTQIA+, and Vanessa Marcil called her out on her comments, Candace thought to address the issue and state that she hates no one.
Candace said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, “All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone.”
Speaking on how her words were purposely misunderstood, the “Full House” alum said, “It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn’t be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.”
“I am a devoted Christian. Which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God. Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately. My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God’s huge love for all of us.”
