General Hospital Star Kin Shriner Loves Soap Today As Much As 45 Years Ago

General Hospital star Kin Shriner celebrated 45 years as Scotty Baldwin on August 2. Although he has come and gone from the show quite a few times over the last four-and-a-half decades, he somehow always makes it back to Port Charles and loves what he is still doing in 2022.

General Hospital’s Kin Shriner Has Done It All As Scotty

Before there was a Luke and Laura, there was a Scotty and Laura, as Scott was the young woman’s law school student husband when Laura (Genie Francis) first met Luke Spencer (Anhtony Geary) and he raped her on the floor of the campus disco. That changed the face of the show forever and Scotty forever, especially after laura fell for her rapist and married him, with Scott showing up as an uninvited guest and catching the bouquet.

Since then, Shriner has played Scott as a wounded scoundrel with a heart of gold who has been through numerous love interests through the years and who has seen almost every handwriting and executive producer regime the soap has had since the late 1970s.

Kin Shriner Is Loving Life As Scotty Now

In 2022, Scott is involved in a popular and unexpected romance with Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), as two lost souls have found each other and keep the audience entertained and laughing whenever they are on. And Shriner is happy to still be going strong.

“You know, I think about the heyday and it’s a different animal now, but it’s fun and I’m still working with people I love,” Shriner said in the August 16, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “Maurice [Benard, Sonny Corinthos], Becky [Herbst, Elizabeth Webber], Maura [West, Ava Jerome], and Kathleen — so it;s not like I;m some kid that’s been left behind…I still get a hoot out of going in there and I still try to make something that’s going to be entertaining.”

As Scott woos his ‘Shnitzel’ and even tries to get him to marry her, fans can’t help but still love Scotty even after all the unscrupulous things he has done over the past 45 years. He still does so much for love and family no matter how much he’s been burned. Stay tuned to General Hosptial weekdays to see what happens to Scott and Liesl next.
