General Hospital Star Jeff Kober Wins Supporting Actor Emmy
General Hospital star Jeff Kober took home a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor on Friday night at the 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. It was his second time being nominated in this category, with the first being last year.
Jeff Kober Wows As Cyrus Renault
Jeff Kober only arrived on the GH and Port Charles scene in early 2020 and was eventually revealed to be Laura Collin’s (Genie Francis) heretofore unheard-of brother, Cyrus Renault. Kober has mesmerized fans ever since although he hasn’t been a show regular for a while.
Kober’s competition in the category included co-star James Patrick Stuart (Valentin Cassadine), The Bold and the Beautiful’s Aaron D. Spears (Justin Barber), and The Young and the Restless’ Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) and Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales).
What Is Cyrus Up To Lately?
Cyrus was finally seen again this past week on General Hospital’s 15,000th-anniversary episode when Laura went to visit him in Pentonville and he admitted her was one behind the campaign to recall Laura as mayor. Curtis also stood by his conviction that he has found God behind bars this time. He looked as if he was going to cry when Laura said she forgave him for everything he has done.
And the things he has done in two years are something else. He became a new mob presence in Port Charles, taking over the hospital in order to make a synthetic pain drug and distribute it illegally around town. He got Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) hooked on drugs he was running and she had a heart attack as a result of them.
He later shot Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) point-blank in the chest after holding Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Trina Robinson (then played by Sydney Mikayla) hostage. He is also said to be the person behind Trina and Portia believing that Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews) had died, but Taggert had really faked his own death. Laura was worried he had tried to have her and their brother, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight), killed a few months ago but Cyrus was cleared of that crime.
Will Kober and Cyrus ever become a regular on the show again? That would require Cyrus to find a way to get out of jail and maybe we could learn if his newfound religion is real. Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see how this story plays out.
