General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny and Jason Take a Stand Against Jack – Will Carly Choose Sides?
General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is in critical condition. Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will want to keep her away from Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), as he is ultimately responsible for her poisoning.
How Far Might Sonny And Jason Go To Protect Carly From Brennan?
We will discuss the lengths Jason and Sonny might go to protect Carly from the threat posed by Brennan. This week, Valentin Cassadine attempted to kill Jack, but Carly became the unintended target. Carly remains hospitalized after battling for her life due to polonium poisoning; meanwhile, Jack is overwhelmed with fear, worry, and anger.
He understands that Valentin laced the champagne with the deadly toxin, and he is determined to make Valentin face consequences. Additionally, Jack has now become one of Sonny’s primary adversaries.
Carly Nearly Died Because Of Jack When She Was With Him
The main reason Jack is so rattled is that Carly almost lost her life while she was with him. When Sonny confronted Valentin with a gun for interfering with his bipolar medication, we witnessed Valentin quickly coming up with a plan. He redirected the blame to Jack, claiming he only altered the meds under Jack’s instructions. Valentin also alleged that the WSB boss had threatened Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) to force him into it. However, unless the show is planning another retcon, Valentin was simply deceiving Sonny; it was clearly Valentin’s own decision to tamper with Sonny’s medication.
Jack’s Involvement, Valentin’s Manipulations
Valentin once bribed a guard at Pentonville to stop the prison van while transporting Jack so they could have a private conversation. This happened when Charles Mesure was still in the role, and there was an urgent matter to discuss. Valentin revealed to Jack that he was orchestrating a long con against Sonny by tampering with his medication to push him into a complete mental breakdown, which would stop him.
While Jack was incarcerated, Valentin took full control of Pikeman but kept Jack informed by setting up meetings, including one in the prison library and another in the transport van. When Jack learned about Valentin’s plan, he agreed but felt it was a slow approach; he preferred a quicker method, like simply shooting Sonny.
Valentin’s Back Up Plan
Currently, Valentin is attempting to eliminate Jack or find someone to do it for him; he believes that the shot fired at him, possibly in Prague, was ordered by Jack. However, that’s not true; it was actually Colette Moreau (Mercedes Renard Lopez) acting on her own. This misunderstanding is why Valentin has made attempts on Jack’s life in Germany and again recently in Port Charles. As a backup, Valentin spread false information to Sonny, hoping the mobster would take action against Jack. While Sonny is indeed planning to go after Jack, it’s not to kill him-instead, Jason and Sonny aim to remove Jack from Carly’s life.
What Will Sonny And Jason Do?
Valentin is currently trying to get rid of Jack or find someone to do it for him. He thinks that the shot fired at him, possibly in Prague, was ordered by Jack. However, that’s not the case; it was actually Colette Moreau (Mercedes Renard Lopez) acting independently. This confusion is why Valentin has made attempts on Jack’s life in Germany and more recently in Port Charles.
As a precaution, Valentin spread false information to Sonny, hoping the mobster would take action against Jack. While Sonny is indeed planning to confront Jack, his goal is not to kill him; instead, Jason and Sonny want to remove Jack from Carly’s life.
Carly’s Unwavering Attraction To Jack
Valentin was trying to manipulate Sonny into assassinating Jack, but I highly doubt that Jason or Sonny would even entertain the thought of killing the WSB station chief. For one, it could backfire terribly, leading to their arrest or making them targets of the spy agency. Furthermore, if they attempted to take out Jack, they would face a major issue—Carly. She would never allow Sonny or Jason to go through with it and would never forgive them for such an act.
Carly Was Warned, But Carly Doesn’t Listen, Will Jack?
Almost everyone, especially Jason, has warned Carly to steer clear of Jack since he started acting suspiciously. I mean, he arrived with a typical kidnapper’s toolkit on the day he got arrested, clearly intending to abduct her; yet, Carly has ignored all the advice. That’s just how Carly is; she follows her own desires, and at the moment, she wants to continue seeing Jack Brennan.
Will Jack pay attention to Jason; if Sonny and Jason attempt to tell Jack to keep his distance from Carly, I doubt he will comply. Although Jack might acknowledge that being around her poses a danger, he is overwhelmed with guilt about Carly being poisoned.
A New Side To Jack
This has revealed a new aspect of Jack that I appreciate-he has always cared for Carly, though not enough to avoid bringing her daughter on board. However, the near loss of Carly caused Jack’s tough exterior to break down. We witnessed him at Carly’s bedside, emotional and expressing that she holds his heart, despite what many believe about him not having one. Additionally, Chris McKenna, the actor portraying Jack, mentioned in a recent interview with Soap Digest that Carly is the most significant person in Jack’s life, calling her the love of his life.
What Does The Future Hold For ‘Jackly’?
No, he won’t easily let Carly go, regardless of what Jason and Sonny do. I also believe that Jason and Sonny won’t just accept Carly dating someone who almost caused her death. It’s ironic, considering how many times Sonny’s decisions have put Carly in danger, I can’t even count them all.
Even if Sonny and Jason try to convince Jack to end things with her, I doubt Carly will agree. She holds on tightly to what she desires; so, if she wants to continue seeing Jack, she won’t let him distance himself just because he poses a risk.
Jack Wants Valentin Dead And Valentin Wants Jack Dead
Carly is determined not to let Sonny or Jason drive Jack away by labeling him as too dangerous; the truth is, both of them are ruthless killers. Sonny and Jason might believe that the ideal scenario is for Valentin and Jack to eliminate each other, which would solve their issues. Jack is seeking revenge on Valentin for hurting Carly, and McKenna mentioned in the same interview that Jack is looking for blood. Therefore, I would be shocked if Valentin actually dies, and so far, he hasn’t.
‘Jackly’ May Survive Whether Sonny And Jason Like It Or Not
Jason and Sonny might have to honor Carly’s decisions, despite their strong objections. If she chooses to be with Jack, I believe Carly will get her way. She seems to be developing feelings for Jack, and he has already indicated that he cares for her as well.
This looks like the start of their romantic journey, and we’re excited to witness it, even if Jason and Sonny are not on board. But if she finds out what he did with Josslyn Jacks, (Eden McCoy) that might be another story!
