General Hospital Spoilers: Soap Temporarily Recasts The Role Of Maxie Jones

General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that fans were caught off during the Wednesday, December 27th episode of the soap, when it was announced that actress Nicole Paggi would temporarily be playing the role of Maxie Jones.

This occurred during the opening scene which saw a meeting at Deception between Maxie, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). Of course, Ms. Jones was forced to play referee between the other two ladies, and they bickered the entire time.

Viewers are used to seeing actress Kirsten Storms portraying the legacy character, a part she has been cast in since 2005.

While Ms. Storms has been playing Maxie for close to two decades now, there have been temporary recasts in the past. Actress Jen Lilley, who’s known to some as Theresa Donovan on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) jumped into the role of Maxie from 2011 to 2012.

Another Days alum, Molly Burnett, who played Melanie Jonas on DOOL, pinch-hit for Storms in 2016 and 2018.

No word on “why” Kirsten has stepped away from the canvas.

GH Spoilers: More On Nicole Paggi

While fans will surely miss not seeing Kirsten regularly, this is a great opportunity for another actress to shine in daytime drama. Nicole Paggi is no stranger to television, playing Jennie Bradbury in Pasadena, and was on Hope and Faith playing Sydney Shanowski.

Fun fact, her Hope and Faith co-stars were fellow soap opera vets, one being Faith Ford, who was on One Life to Life (Muffy Critchlow) and Another World (Julia Shearer) as well as Kelly Ripa from All My Children (Hayley Vaughan). Paggi also appeared on prime-time shows The Rookie: Feds and 9-1-1.

As for Ms. Storms, it’s unknown when she’ll re-appear within GH storylines. Before General Hospital, Kirsten was a regular on DOOL, playing another legacy character, Belle Black, from 1999 to 2004.
