General Hospital spoilers tease that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was surprised when Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) showed up in her office. Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) had just left Sonny’s penthouse and they talked a bit about forgiveness.
Willow’s words must have struck a chord with Sonny, because right afterward he arrived to see Nina. As viewers know, Nina and Sonny broke up earlier this year after Sonny discovered that Nina had anonymously called the SEC to turn Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Matheson) in for insider trading.

But even though Sonny and Nina appeared to mend fences, that’s may not be the real reason Sonny sought out his ex-wife. He’s looking for character references in his upcoming custody battle with Ava Jerome (Maura West).
Nina and Ava were once best friends but Ava betrayed Nina earlier this year. She knows that Ava is a snake who can’t be trusted. So she told Sonny that she would testify that he was the better parent. But she cautioned that she wouldn’t likely be called to testify by Ava.

But Nina will always have a soft spot for Sonny, even if they will never be together. She might also feel like she owes him because she really hurt him by turning Carly in to the SEC.
She even do something that she did once before. Years ago, Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) asked Nina to testify on her behalf in a custody battle against Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell).
Nina agreed, but once she got on the stand, she made it clear that Michael was the better parent. Nelle then lost custody. Could Nina plan to do something similar to Ava?

Although Ava needs all the help she can get, she knows that she betrayed Nina. But if Nina approaches Ava with an offer to testify, she could tell Ava that she wants to testify against Sonny.
As far as Ava knows, Nina and Sonny haven’t made amends so in Ava’s mind Nina might want to get back at Sonny more than she wants revenge against Ava. So Ava might just agree to let Nina testify on her behalf. Little does she know that Nina plans to betray her at the first opportunity.
