General Hospital Spoilers: Maxie’s Return Brings Nathan and Spinelli Into Focus — Who Will Win Her Heart?
General Hospital spoilers reveal Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) is about to make a major splash soon. Last week, Storms alerted the masses that she was back on set in California.
While she was missing her daughter back in Tennessee, she had missed her Port Chuck family, too. She took a hiatus to move cross-country, joining her ex-husband in a family-wide relocation.
Along the way, she also revealed she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm that may or may not end up being operable.
For now, she’s headed back to Port Charles, but fans are noticeably concerned for how long or whether Maxie’s story is headed for an unhappy ending due to Kirsten’s own health struggles. In the meantime, there is a storyline to finish, and it starts with Nathan West (Ryan Paevey).
Put a Ring on It
When Maxie first fell unconscious following a heart attack, Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) sat by her bedside, committed to seeing her through this.
No one was expecting Maxie wouldn’t wake up anytime soon. But Spinelli was determined to be ready when she did — with a ring in hand to pop the question.
He had no doubt in his mind that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with the Maxonista, and now he’s been left to wonder how much time that is and if he’ll ever get to utter the words, “Will you marry me?”
Nathan Doesn’t Have to Do Anything
The brutal part of this for Spinelli is that while Nathan is back, he’s still sort of going to be competing with a ghost.
The memory of Nathan that exists in Maxie’s mind is even more pure, romanticized, and immortalized than the living, breathing version of his back in Port Charles. It’s going to be a lot for Maxie to take in learning that Nathan is alive, and it brings to the surface all kinds of questions.
For instance, can Maxie run off and marry Spinelli if she wants to, or is she going to be considered still married to Nathan? It doesn’t sound like Nathan will have to do much to have Maxie’s fragile heart in his hands, and that’s what scares Spinelli.
Things Aren’t Always What They Seem
I could see Maxie sticking it out with Spinelli out of loyalty. Remember, she already ditched him once when her heart wasn’t really in it. She can’t do that to him again, right?
On the other hand, how is she going to reconcile whatever lingering feelings she has for Nathan? Yeah, it’s been seven years, but that love got shelved, not destroyed. She just didn’t know she would have a chance to pick it back up again.
Who’s gonna pass up that opportunity? I’m feeling like Spinelli might be the honorable one who steps aside and tells her to take all the time she needs to figure out her feelings, even if she doesn’t ask for that.
