General Hospital Spoilers: Jon Lindstrom Celebrates A Major Daytime Soap Milestone

ABC General Hospital spoilers want to congratulate Jon Lindstrom as he celebrates his thirty-fifth year in daytime television! General Hospital viewers know him as Dr. Kevin Collins and his evil twin Ryan Chamberlain!

A Short Resumé Of Jon Lindstrom’s Daytime and Primetime Roles

Jon’s first daytime role was on the short-lived daytime drama “Rituals”. “Rituals” was a syndicated soap opera that ran from September 10, 1984 through September 6, 1985. Kin Shriner, General Hospital’s Scott Baldwin also appeared in this series as did Mary Beth Evans, who also played General Hospital’s Katherine Bell close to the same time. Jon played Brady Chapin. Then he scored the role of Mark McCormick on NBC’s Santa Barbara on November 14, 1985.

From there, he went to “Generations” where he played Paul Jarre. From 1997 through 2003 he played Dr. Kevin Collins on “Port Charles” the gothic spinoff of General Hospital, and both Kevin and Ryan on GH starting in 1992. He also played Craig Montgomery on CBS’s “As The World Turns: from 2006 through 2010, which is also where he met his wife, Cady McClain who played Rosanna Cabot, also his TV wife during part of that time as Craig.

Other roles over the years have been as Lance Cronyn in “Bosch”, Jacob McCandless in “True Detective”, and also in some recurring roles on primetime series, such as Dr. Dixon in “Switch”, Phillip Nelson in “NCIS”, Keith Travis and Chris Barron in “Baywatch” and other credits include producer, writer and editor on several programs. He also scored three Daytime Emmy nominations for lead actor.

Kevin And Ryan Are Probably His Best Known Daytime Roles

His best known daytime roles aside from that of Craig Montgomery on “As The World Turns” are probably those of Dr. Kevin Collins and his psychotic twin Ryan Chamberlain. Ryan was not in the Port Charles spinoff, although there were plenty of mentions. One storyline delved into the dysfunctionality between the two brothers, Ryan having stolen Kevin’s first serious girlfriend. Kevin also found out he had a grown daughter, Livvie Locke (Kelly Monaco) who later died.

Kelly, as General Hospital fans know went on to play Sam McCall on General Hospital. Ryan famously “died” in a funhouse explosion in the mid-nineties and was presumed dead for twenty-five years, only to reappear as part of the memory-mapping storyline on General Hospital. He had been presumably an assassin for the DVX for the years he was presumed dead, and then developed such a break with reality they couldn’t use him and contacted Kevin. Either they had to kill him or Kevin had to take him, as his only known living relative, so he did and put him in Shadybrook Sanitarium under an alias.

General Hospital viewers will recall that was one of the worst mistakes Kevin ever made, since Ryan overpowered him, took over his identity and went on another killing spree while Kevin was kept prisoner!
