General Hospital Spoilers: Is Britt Still Burned By Jason Choosing Carly, or Is She Protecting Him?
General Hospital spoilers reveal Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) might be in the mood to drown in her sorrows, but Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) has been keeping a watchful eye, and let’s be honest, she doesn’t mind.
Britt’s tough exterior might have been a bit subdued when under the influence, but she’s bent on making sure she keeps Jason’s attention, even if she pushes him away every time he gets close.
Come on, no one was expecting Jason to take advantage of the situation while she was drunk. If these two get close again, it’s got to take off with a better foundation than Britt stumbling drunk into his lap.
But her condition appears to be deteriorating a bit in front of him, and whether that’s just the booze or something worse, Jason is growing concerned.
Is Britt really pushing him away because of his past decision to choose Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) over her, or could this be Britt’s way of protecting herself and Jason knowing that she’s living on borrowed time?
The Last Time Was the Last Time
The last time these two fell for each other, they fell hard. Jason was there at every turn, and for the first time, Britt felt okay in her own skin. She actually wanted to be a better person, so that she could be the type of woman who was worthy of being with a good guy like Jason.
But alas, he disappointed her in the end by choosing Carly over her. When everyone thought Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was dead, Jason felt obligated to marry Carly to protect her and the family.
But it was more than that. It was clear he did love Carly, and that was too much for Britt to bear.
Britt’s Condition Could Tank Rapidly
Add the history of pain involved there to the current pain of knowing she is renting space in this world and only able to hold it together because of Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) medication, and it’s a recipe for disaster.
Britt may desire the life she wanted to have with Jason once upon a time, but her Huntington’s diagnosis changed everything.
She knows if the medication runs out — or if Sidwell withholds it or has no use for her and thus isn’t incentivized to help her anymore — she could deteriorate rapidly. She doesn’t see the point in coupling up with Jason to make him do through that.
Who’s the Hero?
Frequently, we see Jason rushing to Britt’s rescue. That’s what he does. That’s who he is, and who he has been to so many people over the years.
Now, Jason knows Britt is struggling and he suspects she’s in trouble to some extent. Why else would she be working for Professor Henry ‘Hank’ Dalton (Daniel Goddard) after Jason already brought her home from that shady lab in Croatia?
But I’m wondering if we’re going to see GH flip the script on us here. As much as Britt keeps pushing Jason away and pretending it’s all his fault, we know the softer side of her doesn’t want him to get hurt — and she doesn’t want to put herself through any more pain either.
Britt is just the type who is fine with missing out on the experience of loving Jason if it means she doesn’t have to experience losing him again, and in this case, knowing she’s dying and will leave him behind.
Is that the real reason it takes a few beers to get her to open her heart to the idea of reuniting with him? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
