General Hospital spoilers exclaim Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) telling Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) she can’t tell him the truth without them getting married signals that she’s absolutely got something to say — but she needs marital privilege to do it.
Don’t think they won’t! Longtime GH fans know this storyline all too well. Some kind of criminal event happens, and either Sonny or Carly is complicit.
Getting married has always been their lifeline — choosing to tether themselves together in solidarity just to be able to help each other out.
Carly Zips Her Lips
Carly is keeping a secret, and Sonny wants to get to the bottom of it. That’s probably only going to be amplified if he learns that she shares this secret with their son, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson).
Could it have something to do with both of them stopping by Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) for a visit last week, conveniently right before the PCPD showed up with a knock at the door and a search warrant in hand? Stumbling upon that evidence in Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) sure was a stroke of luck — or was it? For now, it sounds like Carly isn’t going to say a peep to Sonny.
She would never want to put him in a position where he has to lie under oath if questioned about her or Michael, and we both know he’s not telling the truth if they are guilty!
GH Spoilers Tease This is a New Era for Sonny
Fans have noticed something very different in the don’s life, and that’s the fact that he has been single ever since he called it quits with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) in early 2024. That might not sound like a long time, but it’s a lifetime in Sonny years! The mob boss with a heart of gold is used to giving that heart away, and he’s never been one to go without some kind of female companionship.
Enter a new era of Sonny! The fans have been pleasantly surprised at how good Sonny has been at flying solo for nearly two years now.
It seems like that trip to Nixon Falls really did change him for the better. Don’t get me wrong; we don’t want Sonny alone forever, but we don’t really want him with anyone but Carly either — am I right?
Sixth Time is the Charm?
Technically, Sonny and Carly have been married five times already, but once was a vow renewal. Yes, that means they’ve been divorced one, two, three, four times! Any subsequent marriage at this moment would certainly be assumed to end in the same, or even an annulment if they never consummate their newfound matrimony.
If it comes down to it, Carly will skip off to the church or courthouse in a minute to pull Sonny into the tangled web it sounds like she and Michael may have woven.
