General Hospital Spoilers: Cameron Mathison Takes A Step Back From GH

General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison joined the show last year as Drew Cain. Drew was formerly played by Billy Miller and was the unknown identical twin of hitman Jason Morgan (ex-Steve Burton). However, less than a year later, Mathison is taking a step back from the role. What is causing this change?

General Hospital Cameron Mathison Steps Away From G.H.

General Hospital Cameron is not giving up his job as Drew, however, he is taking a step back for a bit. As previously reported, Mathison has a new GAC project going presently that is taking him away from Prospect Studios. Mathison has made a few movies for GAC and used to make Hallmark movies as well.

Presently, Mathison is filming “The Christmas Farm” with Jill Wagner in Ontario, Canada. The movie is slated to be released later in the year when GAC’s Great American Christmas movie marathon which begins on October 28th and lasts through the end of the year. GAC’s Christmas Movies join those already seen on Hallmark and Lifetime channels.

General Hospital Drew Cain May Leave Town On Business

It isn’t clear how General Hospital plans to explain Mathison’s leave from the show. Some stars often tape scenes ahead so their absence is not noticed. Other G.H. characters leave town on business to explain their absence.

With Drew and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) arguing over merging ELQ and Aurora, Drew could leave town just to get away for a while. Drew own a media company and could leave town on business at any time. Now that Drew is helping Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), he could leave to investigate Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) birth as well.

General Hospital – Cameron Mathison Hasn’t Mentioned A Permanent Exit

General Hospital’s Mathison hasn’t suggested leaving the show for good by any means. Drew doesn’t have a huge storyline going right now so it’s a good time to step away for a bit. Drew may find himself drawn to Cassadine Island to look for his brother Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) again. General Hospital writers will certainly find some way to explain Drew and Mathison’s exit without worrying fans too much. Whatever Drew’s exit storyline is, Mathison is going to be gone long enough to wrap up this movie and will return.

Like many other G.H. stars, Mathison needs to step away for a new project for just a few weeks. Hopefully, when Mathison returns Drew will have an exciting new adventure. Keep checking back for updates on Cameron’s exit and return.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading as well as writing fan fiction. General Hospital’s Sam and Jason are one of my favorite couples of all time.
