General Hospital Spoilers: As Ric and Sonny Reconnect, A Major Romance Reset Could Be Next
General Hospital spoilers reveal Ric Lansing (Ric Hearst) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) appear to be reconciling decades of mutual hatred toward one another — and I’m here for it! Are you? As someone who is more interested in conflict resolution than simmering in discontentment, I like the idea of these half-brothers finally making peace and acting like family — be that sharing a meal over the holidays, or helping each other out of a felony.
But the biggest bonus in this reconciliation, if you ask me, is that Sonny giving Ric another chance signals that other people might also give him another shot — one of them being Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
Sonny is a Stepping Stone
Sonny and Ric growing closer as brothers might be one of the biggest surprises of 2025, though it’s certainly not being treated that way. I think it’s underrecognized. Tell me who saw this coming, and that it’s not a big deal. At first, I thought Ric was playing his mob boss brother, and he may still be.
I’ll reserve judgement, but if this reunion is legitimate, then that means Ric stands a real chance at redeeming himself for all the crummy things he did in the past.
We’re not sure how Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is going to feel about Sonny making amends with Ric, but does she get a say?
GH Spoilers Say Elizabeth Remains an Option
Of course, if Ric is making amends with Sonny, it stands to reason that just about everyone should be able to grant him some grace to change his stripes. Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) seems to have already done that, but that doesn’t mean she’s keen on ushering in a reboot with her ex-hubs.
Ric was far from the most stable guy back then, and while she seems to enjoy his company these days, she hasn’t invited anything more than friendship.
If she finds out about what Alexis, Ava Jerome (Maura West), and Kristina Corinthos Davis (Kate Mansi) really did to Ric, it could make her inner nurse come out and sympathize with him a bit too much. Will that be enough to make her take the leap to trust him with her heart again though?
Alexis is the Real Deal
If Ric redeems himself now, he just might stand a chance at a reboot with Alexis. While Elizabeth and Ric had a good run at things, he was mostly deceiving her the whole time. Alexis and Ric, on the other hand, had a real partnership going for a hot minute.
Their marriage was far more fiery before they mutually screwed it up. In addition, Molly Lansing Davis (Kristen Vaganos) being born brought them together, however briefly.
Sure, Ric was unfaithful — and with Alexis’ late daughter, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), but that was practically a lifetime ago.
