General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) chatted with Finn Carr (16), who plays the role of Rocco Falconeri. The young ABC star was open to talking about mental health, which gave the young GH actor a lot of kudos from fans.

GH Maurice Benard Focuses On Mental Health

General Hospital fans know that Sonny Corinthos is a man with a kind heart when it comes to his family. And, the ABC veteran carries over that personality in real life as well. His podcast, State of Mind often has people talk about their mental health and their life decisions.

ABC fans saw Maurice Benard chatting about grief with Sawandi Wilson (Isaiah Gannon). Grief can impact a person in many ways, but no matter how it comes, it’s a life-changing state of mind. Like Isaiah Gannon on the GH show, Rocco Falconeri is much younger than Sonny Corinthos. But, they both relaxed with the older man when they opened up on his podcast.

Maurice Benard and Finn Carr were relaxed when they informally talked about mental health on the YouTube podcast on Sunday. First, Maurice talked about his years on the show and how he likes to help people. Then, he introduced Finn, who confirmed that he was just 16 years old.

Finn Carr told the older man that he struggles with “depression” and “anxiety.” Sometimes, he finds it easier to reach out when he has “anxiety,” but with depression, he often keeps it inside. But, he persists with therapy.

ABC Star Finn Carr Initially Kept It In

Maurice Benard coaxed Finn Carr along, and he became very candid, adding “I remember I asked to see a therapist…because of like Covid and stuff like that.” However, back then it was usually done “on Zoom,” and Finn felt shy in case others were “listening in.”

Later, he said that initially, he felt hesitant to talk to others, especially his “parents.” Although they “were open-minded,” he felt as if “something” made him “not talk to them.” So, he tried to work on it by himself. In fact, he thought that talking about depression seemed a bit “silly.” However, when he started opening up, it got a lot easier.

One way that the General Hospital star overcomes the depression that wants to demotivate him, is to “exercise.” He does that even if he does not feel like it. He added, “It’s such a great resource to me.”

ABC Fans React To The Conversation

Sonny Corinthos fans loved that Maurice Barnard brought Finn Car onto the podcast. Here are some of their reactions:

  • 16 years old and so mature ??? WOW. Finn was so honest and real. Would love to see Rocco and his Granddad Sonny connect and have a major storyline…You BOTH deserve it. 🙂 Thanks Mo.
  • Finn is such an articulate young man and seems so wise beyond his years. How wonderful it was of him to be so open about his struggles and how he helped himself. What a great role model he is for young people today.
  • Finn is a cutie pie and I love the children in GH. I love that he talked about anxiety and depression which is so normal for young people! Good wishes for his successful future.
