General Hospital (GH) spoilers: Wright Dishes On Carly, GH’s Epic 15,000 Episodes

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal the amazing news that the ABC daytime drama has reached a milestone, it has filmed it’s 15,000 episode. This is incredible in the annals of television and especially so in an era when soaps are going the way of the dinosaur.

Leading lady Laura Wright plays Carly Corinthos and she has been along for much of the show’s tremendous ride. This is the soap that gave the daytime landscape what many consider to be the supercouple of all time, Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis). To this day the Quartermaine and Cassadine families continue to awe and inspire and cause mischief and fans are as in love with this serial drama as they were back in the days of Steve and Audrey Hardy. Soaps are good at legacy plots and today their granddaughter, Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) is front and center in a sizzling hot plot.

Wright talked to Cleveland.com about her experience and the milestone tribute show that commemorates the 15,000 epi. It was to air on June 17th, rescheduled to June 20th, and as of press time the date is now June 21st. Let’s face it, soap preemptions are just about as routine as returns from the dead.

To what does Wright attribute the show’s longevity? She thinks, “It’s the fans and their love for the show. We’re really here because of them and their love for the characters, the stories and, gosh, the history.”

Of course the stories remain the same to a large degree, but over the years they have gotten more out there. What does she think about pushing the envelope? “Those are stories that should be told. So, I don’t find it risky. I find it current and true to humanity. We’re just telling people’s stories. I don’t know if it’s risky to tell the Alzheimer’s story or the transgender story because we are reflecting people in the world today and I think that’s important.”

Sadly, there are just four daytime soaps on today when once there were many, many more.

Wright chooses to see the upside on the situation saying, “I think the future of daytime is strong with all the different platforms you can watch the show on. The fans love that they can get us anytime, whether it be on ABC or Hulu.”

So what is next for Carly, a newly divorced mom and businesswoman who is reinventing herself? Wright spilled that Carly and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) will explore their relationship. Does this mean that the hunky back from the dead guy will finally get her to skinny dip with him?
