General Hospital Spoilers – Where Was Leslie Charleson?
General Hospital fans were on alert Monday, March 15 when they tuned in to their beloved soap and found someone else in the role that made veteran actress Leslie Charleson a beloved fan fave.
Instead of Charleson, Days of Our Lives alum Holly Kaplan (ex Nurse Brenda) was in the role made famous by the lovely and talented Charleson. Not to worry though, the switch-up was just for one episode!
General Hospital Updates – What Happens Next In Port Charles, New York?
Charleson is not the only actress to be recast recently, albeit for a temporary stint. Inga Cadranel was recently replaced for one episode as Harmony Miller when Sunset Beach vet Priscilla Garita filled in.
And, Kelly Monaco was recently replaced by Passions alum Lindsay Hartley. Easton Rocket Sweda also took a temp break as Leo for a single episode and he was replaced by another actor.
Charleson has the distinction of being the show’s longest-serving cast member. She debuted in 1977 after starring on As the World Turns and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing.
Leslie Charleson Is The Longest Serving Cast Member
Monica has had some of the meatiest, juiciest roles in the daytime and it is nearly impossible to imagine General Hospital without her presence. For now, she is mainly seen refereeing Quartermaine squabbles but there was a time when Monica was the alpha female, both professionally and in her personal life. She was a long-serving chief of staff and had her share of love affairs, including with her late husband and fellow doctor Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon). For now, she is content to lap up the attention of her bodyguard Yuri!
Will Monica be given more airtime in the near future? Fans would love to see more of Monica! She is the matriarch of Port Charles’ preeminent family and a respected doctor. Additionally, she has a gaggle of relatives in constant need of guidance, so chances are we will enjoy Monica’s presence for a long time to come.
