General Hospital (GH) star Chad Duell who played the role of Michael Corinthos first dropped the news in early December that he was leaving Port Charles. That arrived on social media, and later, confirmation arrived. This week, he opened up and talked more about why he is taking a break.
GH Star Chad Duell Will Be Missed
Nobody wanted to believe that the familiar face of Michael Corinthos was leaving, He’s popular with ABC fans, not to mention the storyline complications that arose for the future. On the show, at the time of the departure announcement, General Hospital fans wondered if he’d trap Drew Quartermaine.
ABC star, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan,) openly felt that Chad Duell should come back and raise the baby with Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson). Well, no matter what he said back then, for now, it looks like Chad is determined to stay away and let Sasha’s storyline go where it will.
Chad Duell’s Departure Is About His Personal Life
On YouTube this New Year’s Day, Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson chatted with the departing actor who played Michael Corinthos. After chatting about the tour and how Chad should call in and see it one day, the hosts of the DailyDrama Podcast got down to why he left the ABC show.
In his conversation, Chad Duell said, in part:
A lot of stuff has been going on in my life… There’s a few things behind it… like my dad passed away …and I still come to terms with that. I’m…just kind of…more about just doing things mentally [and] physically preparing myself for [the] next chapter. Frank…left the door open there so we’ll see what happens in the future. But right now, I’m just trying to grow in ways that maybe I feel like I stifled myself in certain aspects and I need to [take]…drastic steps.

Although it isn’t “comfortable,” the General Hospital star feels that sometimes, it’s important to become “uncomfortable” in order “to grow” as a person. For now, he wants to be stronger “spiritually [and] mentally.” That way, he hopes his “energy” will reflect a better way on people around him.

I don’t feel CD needs to express anything to viewers as far as why he has decided to take a break from GH as viewers are not his personal friends. Viewers should just wish him the best and leave it at that. I realize I am probably in the minority on this subject, but I feel actors have private lives that should stay private.
