General Hospital spoilers suggest Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) exit from GH has already rocked the fan base, but the way she goes out may leave them feeling more heartbroken than ever.
While many have entertained theories from murder to a disappearance that leave an opening for Sam to return, it seems no one wants to tangle with the idea of Sam taking her own life.
Is that because we just can’t fathom her doing that, or because we don’t want to see such a permanent exit for her? GH is no stranger to tackling real life issues that strike nerves.
To add fuel to that fire. Sam has been struggling as of late, and the fans have noticed a serious change in her personality over the years. Say it ain’t so. Sam!

Sam has had a rough go with life as of late. It was only a few months ago that the man she loves — Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) — was shot and nearly killed.
That experience left her even more traumatized and worried she would lose someone else she loves. At the same time, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) managed to come back from the dead, and that has left her torn between letting Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) have a relationship with him, and wanting to protect him from the same relationship.
Then one of her sisters — Kristina Corinthiw Davis (Kate Mansi) — nearly died, and did lose the baby she was carrying for their other sister, Molly Lansing Davis (Kristen Vaganos).
Now, her mother is facing life in prison for a murder she did not commit. How much more can Sam take?

Although many of Kelly Monaco’s fans don’t want to see her leave and have even gone to the extent of protesting to try to keep her on the show, many others have noted they’re ready for her character to move along.
Why? Who Sam is today is a far cry from the woman she was when many of us really fell in love with her. She came to town as a con woman with a heart of gold.
She fell for Jason and their long winded romance was so special it was deserving of its own song, courtesy of Rie Sinclair. But at some point, Sam decided Jason’s lifestyle that she had always embraced and supported was too dangerous for her or her kids to be around.
She has recently taken on a similar issue with Dante’s work in law enforcement. She’s often terrified of the consequences of even the right side of the law, though she still dabbles in the wrong side when it suits her or a case she’s working on. But she has become weaker, fearful, and timid.

Sam’s recent teary-eyed plea to Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) asking her to sacrifice Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) sake left us wondering just how much longer Sam can handle real life.
It seems the stress of loving the people she has chosen to love — with all of their complexities — is catching up with her. Could it be overwhelming stress and an emotional breakdown that leaves Sam teetering on the brink and giving up?
The speculations for Sam’s departure from canvas are getting outlandish. As TPTB want the actor removed from canvas surely after all the years of service the actor has given GH writers should at least give the actor/character a decent departure story. Kill the character for years by not supporting her presence, now thinking of the most horrible ways to remove the character forever are really questionable in my opinion.
